18 RENÈ GABRIEL: "02: Sehr dunkles, tiefes Granat; satt in der Mitte und fast undurchdringlich. Reifes, fettes Cassisbouquet, roter Holunder und frisch gemahlene Kakaobohnen, Edelhölzer; bereits in der Nase recht opulent. Im Gaumen zart, cremig, üppig mit einem unheimlich berauschenden Schmelz von gekochten Pflaumen, Pralinen, Sandelholz und reifer Frucht, ein betörendes Finale. Nicht so oxydativ wie früher und vielleicht wieder mit dem Ansatz, zu den allerbesten Pomerols gehören zu wollen. Sicherlich einer der besten Weine des Jahrganges 2001 verbunden mit der Chance, zum Clinet 1989 und 1995 aufzuschliessen. Er kann einen Punkt zulegen, vielleicht in der Genussphase gar für eine kurze Zeit die Maximalwertung erreichen. Ein Must in der Subskription! 07: In Basel an einem Bordeaux-Parcours. Geniales Holunderbouquet, Alpenheidelbeeren und noch mehr Brombeeren. Im Gaumen setzen sich diese überbordenden schwarzbeerennoten fort und der Wein endet mit einem überruchtigen Cassisfinale. Einfach genial und wieder einmal so richtig grosser Spass-Clinet! 09: Süss mit dunklen Röstnoten (an Mouton erinnernd). Fette, angerundete Tannine, beginnender Pomerolspass." 91 THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "The final vintage from the chateau produced from 100% Merlot. With a nose of licorice, truffle, smoke and spicy plums, the wine features soft, silky textures and a medium/full body. Close to fully mature, this Pomerol ends with a plush mouthful of fennel, chocolate, black raspberries and plums." 90 THE WINEADVOCATE: "Served from an ex-chateau double magnum, the larger format has a key role to play here, the nose more backward than from bottles, the savoury component less pronounced. Instead you get those lovely peppermint-tinged black fruit with hints of violets and iodine. The palate displays fine tannins and there is great depth here, although I still find the finish just a little clipped.
