"Quite a scented and layered nose of spiced berries, pencil shavings, white pepper and creme de cassis. Quite refined and pretty, with a medium to full body and firm, polished tannins. Poised, juicy and long. One of the best Camensacs I have tasted, and it’s a great value for this excellent vintage. Drink from 2027."

"Impressive intensity, and you can see the work that has been going on at Camensac over the past decade brought out by the success of 2022. Has a chalky edge to the tannins, combined with slim rosebud florals, tight through the opening then softens to damson, soft crayon and grilled caramel. Tasted in recent château vertical also, same score. Villars-Foubet and Merlaut owners, harvest September 8 to 27."

  • Decanter

"Lively and crisp, this has a lovely bounce and sense of energy, with notes of strawberry, raspberry and cherry. Really focused on the fruit rather than the texture of the tannins or any kind of heat and spice, though they accent the finish softly. Ripe and full, but friendly and approachable. A good buy."

  • Lisa Perrotti-Brown

"This year Camensac is 59% Cabernet Sauvignon and 41% Merlot, and in the glass it presents a very sweet and smoky nose, with concentrate dried cherry, dried cranberry, smoke, leather and tobacco, as well as a little red rose petal perfume. The palate is harmonious and fresh, with a rather juicy core of dried red cherry, leather and tobacco, wrapped up in a considerable frame of tannins. There is nice coherence and concentration here, and it finishes strong, with a rich tannic grip, firm, spicy and tightly knit, lingering with the dark fruit in the finish. A very good Camensac this year. Tasted twice. The alcohol on the label is 14%."

"Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Frische Kräuterwürze, rote Herzkirschen, zarte florale Nuancen. Mittlerer Körper, rote Waldbeeren, gute Frische, etwas Nugat, mineralisch-kalkiger Abgang."

  • The Wine Cellar Insider

"Currants, blackberries, cedar and tobacco leaf work perfectly here. The wine has ample fruit and freshness with a savory edge to the currant and cranberry finish. A year or two in the cellar will add even more to the wine. Drink from 2026-2038."
