Ein wahrhaft beeindruckendes Pomerol-Meisterwerk, das mit seiner tiefen granatpurpurnen Farbe und einem explosiven Bouquet aus Pflaumenkonfit, schwarzen Kirschen und Maulbeeren verführt. Die Nase wird ergänzt durch Noten von dunkler Schokolade, Lakritz und zarten Rosenblütenblättern. Am Gaumen präsentiert sich der Wein vollmundig mit einer opulenten, seidigen Textur und üppigen Fruchtaromen, die von geschmeidigen Tanninen umrahmt werden. Der lange, saftige Abgang offenbart Nuancen von Trüffel, feuchter Erde und Haselnuss – eine harmonische Verbindung aus Kraft und Eleganz, die von bemerkenswerter Frische getragen wird.

"This wine is now being made by Guillaume Thienpont, from Vieux Chateau Certan. The blend this year is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, harvested between the 23rd of September and 4th of October. The alcohol came in at 14.4% and the pH is 3.7. It is being aged in French oak barrels, 50% new. Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Guillot Clauzel bursts from the glass with flamboyant notes of plum preserves, baked black cherries and mulberries with hints of dark chocolate, licorice and black peppercorns plus a waft of smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers open-knit, black fruit flavors with plush tannins and compelling freshness, finishing long and juicy. Clearly, this is a property on an upward trend and one to watch!"

It rolls out of the glass with notes of baked black plums, boysenberry preserves, and black truffles with hints of rosehip tea, crushed rocks, and tapenade. Full-bodied, it is rich and concentrated with ripe, rounded tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and wonderfully earthy."

Chateau Guillot Clauzel kann man zurecht als klein aber fein beschreiben. 2,4 ha Rebflächen, diese aber zählen zur creme de la creme in Pomerol- gleich nebenan befindet sich Le Pin oder Trotanoy. 1991 erwarben Paul und Jacqueline Clauzel das kleine Chateau Guillot Clauzel weil sie um das großartige Potential in dieser Lage wussten. Die ältesten Reben sind mehr als 70 Jahre alt, auf der südlich ausgerichteten Lage stehen hauptsächlich Merlot, aber auch Cabernet Franc. Alle Arbeitsschritte im Weinberg und im Keller erfolgen extrem aufwändig und maximal schonend per Hand, der Ausbau der Weine findet zu 50% in neuen und zu 50% in maximal einjährigen Eichenfässern statt. Mittlerweile führt mit Etienne Clauzel die nächste Generation dieses Gut mit viel Leidenschaft und bereits sehr erfolgreich weiter, unterstützt von keinem Geringeren als Guillaume Thienpont. Guillaume Thienpont, sicherlich bekannter als Sohn von Alexander Thienpont, Inhaber von Vieux Chateau Certan und Mit-Eigentümer von Le Pin will aus diesem Chateau einen der non-plus-ultra Pomerols machen. Die produzierten Mengen sind sehr gering und daher am Markt äußerst gesucht. Insider sehen Chateau Guillot Clauzel als den neuen Le Pin, inzwischen einer der teuersten Weine in Bordeaux. Die Voraussetzungen bei Chateau Guillot Clauzel dafür sind AAA, beste Lage, alte Reben und ein hochkarätiges Team.
