  • James Suckling

"This is linear and transparent with dark cherries and lemon rind. Subtle and fine. Medium-bodied with vibrating tanking that gives this vibe and length. Focused and pretty. 83% merlot and 17% Cabernet franc. Drink after 2028."

  • Decanter

"A wine of purity and finesse, with pristine blackcurrant and cherry aromas, delicate perfume, and graphite nuances. The texture is silky and caressing, like cashmere, and with the acidity delivers a fresh, vibrant, and buzzy energy. Flavours strike instantly with intense blackcurrant and cherry, layered with tension and crispness, yet still airy and elegant. The structure is present but never overpowering - this is all about fragrance, finesse, and light extraction rather than sheer power. The best Guillot Clauzel ever? It just might be. 3.75pH. Ageing one-third new oak, one-third one-year-old barrels, one-third two-year-old barrels."

  • The Wine Cellar Insider

"This still under the radar Pomerol pops with its nose of chocolate, black cherries, and flowers. Elegant, lifted, and silky on the palate, the creamy-textured finish is rich, fresh, and supple, with length, purity, and refinement. The wine blends 83% Merlot with 17% Cabernet Franc. Guillaume Thienpont of Vieux Chateau Certan is in charge of the estate. Drink from 2026-2052."

  • Jeb Dunnuck

"From vines just beside Le Pin and 83% Merlot and 17% Cabernet Franc, the 2022 Château Guillot-Clauzel is beautiful stuff and has a darker core of black cherries, damp earth, smoke, and tobacco. This beautifully concentrated, medium to full-bodied, layered Pomerol has ripe tannins, a layered, seamless mouthfeel, and a great finish. I love its mix of richness and elegance, and it's a gorgeous 2022 to drink over the coming two decades."

  • The Wine Advocate

"The 2022 Guillot Clauzel is suave and charming, bursting with aromas of sweet cherries, dark berries, licorice and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and seamless, with a lively but gourmand core of fruit and a harmonious, integrated profile, it's a real success."

  • Lisa Perrotti-Brown

"The property managed by Guillaume Thienpont since 2018, a blend of 83% Merlot from old vines planted in the 1950s, on a terroir of surface soil, clay-gravel, red clay and deeper blue clay, with 17% Cabernet Franc, managed as usual but with a little less extraction and a little less new oak. Beautifully complex and floral on the nose, a backdrop of currants and griottes which allows the hawthorn, rose and violet nuances to shine, along with a touch of dark chocolate. The palate is very precise and cool, linear at first, with floral and mineral berry fruits, as lifted as the nose, with a linear definition, and a finely knit and firm backbone of tannins. Alexandre and Guillaume attribute the success of the dry 2022 vintage to the rather damp 2021 vintage, and they may well be right. An impressive composition, with a supple midpalate presence. This is surely the best Guillot-Clauzel Guillaume has made here. The alcohol is 14.5% on the label."
