At the same time, there’s plenty of plush and ripe tannins that give the wine form and brightness. And it still remains bright on the finish, as the tannins roll on. A great Conseillante. Try after 2024."

"Bottled in June of 2018, the 2016 Château La Conseillante is a beautifully seamless yet powerful version of this cuvée that has the hallmark fragrance and elegance of the estate front and center. Complex blackberries, cassis, flowers, incense, forest floor, and floral notes all soar from this full-bodied, pure, and polished Pomerol that has an undeniable class as well as wonderful purity of fruit, perfect integration of its tannins and acidity, and a blockbuster finish. It's an incredibly complete wine that flirts with perfection and will keep for 30-40 years. The blend is 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, aged in 70% new French oak, with the balance in once-used barrels. There are less than 4,000 cases made, but this is a wine you want in your cellar."

"The 2016 La Conseillante is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc aged in 70% new and 30% one-year-old French oak for 17 months. Deep garnet-purple colored, it slips provocatively out of the glass with a lifted perfume of roses, candied violets and lavender over a core of warm red and black plums, chocolate box, unsmoked cigars and baked cherries with wafts of wild thyme and tilled soil. Medium-bodied, the palate exudes polish and sophistication with bags of fragrance, freshness and energy, sporting exquisitely fine-grained tannins and finishing very long and minerally. Around 3,808 cases produced."

It stretches out through the tight palate, becoming juicy on the finish, This is one of the best of the tasting, so fine is its tannic structure - you almost overlook them at first, but the tannins slowly build. It's just as gorgeous as during en primeur, but with an extra kick. It will clearly age well. 70% new oak. They follow biodynamic practices in the vineyard. Michel Rolland consults."

Chateau la Conseillante

Ein Weingut mit Geschichte Seit 1871 ist das Weingut im Besitz der Familie Nicolas, die sich ganz besonders um Chateau La Conseillante kümmert. Generation um Generation, Jahrgang für Jahrgang, haben sie seiner Geschichte neue Kapitel hinzugefügt. Jede Winzerlinie verfolgt das gleiche Ziel: diesen einzigartigen Weinberg im berühmten Weinbaugebiet Pomerol zu erhalten und an die nächste Generation weiterzugeben. Daher kommt der Name La Conseillante Der Name „La Conseillante“ lässt sich in Frankreich 300 Jahre zurückverfolgen, als die einflussreiche Libourne-Händlerin Catherine Conseillan das Anwesen kaufte und ihm die weibliche Version ihres Nachnamens gab: La Conseillante. Mit dem Spitznamen „Eiserne Lady“ führte die Besitzerin ein Renovierungsprogramm auf dem Anwesen durch und erweiterte die Fläche des Weinbergs auf insgesamt 12 Hektar. Fünf Generationen später ist das Layout des Weinbergs mit seinem Parzellenmosaik aus dieser Zeit unverändert geblieben. Seit 2003 schreiben Bertrand und Jean-Valmy Nicolas in fünfter Generation ein neues Kapitel in der Geschichte des Weinguts. Getreu der Identität und Philosophie von La Conseillante verfolgen sie die gleiche Politik wie ihre Vorfahren. Sensibel und fürsorglich gegenüber ihrer Umgebung, verwalten sie das Anwesen heute immer umweltbewusster und nachhaltiger. Ihr Respekt für Terroir, Details und Präzision veranlasste sie 2012 zum Bau eines Vinifizierungsraums, der parzellenweise Weinbereitung ermöglichte. Jedes Mitglied der Familie Nicolas wird von der gleichen Leidenschaft angetrieben und von einem Erbe inspiriert, das von Generation zu Generation weitergegeben wird. Das Terroir von Chateau La Conseillante Die Lage von Chateau La Conseillante ist einzigartig in der Appellation Pomerol, wo eine originelle Mischung aus eisenoxidhaltigen Böden und Unterböden das Terroir prägen. Auf den knapp 12 Hektar aus sandigem Kies- und grauem Lehmboden, gedeihen die Rebsorten Merlot (80%) und Cabernet Franc (20%). Die Rebfläche, bestehend aus 16 Parzellen, von denen die älteste im Jahr 1958 bepflanzt wurde, liegt vorwiegend auf einer Kiesablagerung, die der Fluss Isle in der Günz Eiszeit mehrere Meter dick herangeführt hat. Die Trauben vergären in 22 Ton-Bottichen und reifen anschließend in 70 Prozent neuen Barriques. Der Ausbau in den Eichenfässern beträgt rund 8 Monate. Der Zweitwein Duo de Conseillante Seit 2007 wird auf La Conseillante der Zweitwein Duo de Conseillante aus zwei der sandigeren Parzellen des Weinbergs hergestellt. Obwohl weniger konzentriert im Profil, zeigt dieser Wein Aromen und Lebendigkeit, die mit La Conseillante vergleichbar sind. Mit einem Alterungspotential von zwei bis zehn Jahren offenbart Duo frische Früchte in der Nase und ein seidiges Mundgefühl, das durch köstliche Frische verstärkt wird. Chateau La Conseillante – es lohnt sich! Chateau La Conseillante liegt, wie bereits erwähnt, in der Appellation Pomerol. Das Gutsgebäude befindet sich in unmittelbarer Nähe der Grenze zur Appellation St. Emilion. Wenn man sich die Nachbarn von la Conseillante ansieht (Petrus, Chateau Cheval Blanc, Chateau La Tour-Figeac, Vieux Chateau Certan, Chateau L´Evangile) kann man schon erahnen, welche Qualität dort in die Flaschen kommt. Ob Chateau La Conseillante sich lohnt? Unbedingt!!
