Chateau Larcis Ducasse 2010

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "Deep garnet in color, the 2010 Larcis Ducasse opens a little subdued, offering glimpses of tobacco leaf, cast-iron pan and dusty soil over a core of raisin cake and Indian spices plus a touch of figs. Full-bodied, rich and seductive, it has firm, plush tannins and bags of freshness, finishing long and spicy."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Wow. This is really intense with amazing dark fruit character of crushed blueberries and minerals. It’s full-bodied, with super integrated tannins and a superb finish that lasts for minutes. A fabulous wine. "

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "With intense aromatics and concentration of flavor, the wine is deep, powerful and long. It’s also filled with mineral essence, cocoa, licorice and ripe plums. The finish really coats your mouth and lasts for more than 40 seconds. But the wine is starting to tighten up. It’s going to need time to come around."

DECANTER: "This is deep and powerful and right from the nose you’re taken up to another level. I can feel the layers of flavour here; black olive is just the beginning of the richness of this with black cherry, raspberry and cassis getting bedded down for the long term and tannins that know exactly what to do. 60% new oak was used. Drinking Window 2020 - 2046"

FALSTAFF: "Dunkles Rubingranat, tiefe Farbe, violette Reflexe, zarter Wasserrand. Mit feinen Gewürzanklängen unterlegte dunkle Beerenfrucht, attraktiv und facettenreich, Nuancen von Vanille und Kardamom. Komplex, saftige Brombeernote, extraktsüß, feine Tannine, die gut eingebunden sind, finessenreiche Struktur, zarte Schokonote im Abgang, bleibt gut haften, sicheres Reifepotenzial."

WINE SPECTATOR: "A rich, tongue-coating style, with loamy structure and dense plum sauce, roasted fig and warm dark currant confiture notes, all inlaid with espresso and graphite. Still tightly drawn now, this needs a bit more cellaring to unfurl fully, but there's beautiful polish and lovely fruit worth waiting for. Best from 2016 through 2030. 2,900 cases made."

WEINWISSER: "Extrem dunkles Purpur mit violetten Reflexen. Verhaltenes Bouquet, rote Kirschen, dezente Grenadinenuancen, mittlerer Druck. Im Gaumen fest, dezent kernig, irgendwo aber fehlen Fett und Länge."
