Einer der am höchsten bewerteten Weißweine jemals und weltweit ist 2015 DOMAINE DE CHEVALIER BLANC. Mit 98 Punkten von JAMES SUCKLING, 97 Punkten im DECANTER, 97 Punkten von JEB DUNNUCK, 96 Punkten von JEFF LEVE und drei Mal 95 Punkten! von PARKER, WINE SPECTATOR und ANTONIO GALLONI stellt dieser herausragende und unglaublich alterungsfähige Wein eine der Weißwein-Referenzen weltweit.  

OLIVIER BERNARD, Mit-Inhaber und Manager der DOMAINE DE CHEVALIER blickt stolz auf eine bis in das Jahr 1155 zurückreichende Familien-Tradition, unglaubliche 850 Jahre! Erst im Jahr 1983 jedoch erwarb die Familie die Domaine, damals winzige 18 Hektar groß. Mittlerweile umfasst das Gut stattliche 120 Hektar, wovon allerdings nur etwa die Hälfte unter Reben steht. Die Lage ist fast mit einem Märchenschloss vergleichbar, komplett umgeben von Wäldern. Fährt man zur Domaine öffnet sich eine beeindruckend große Lichtung an deren Ende das eher unscheinbare Chateaugebäude etwas erhöht steht. Die Einrichtung ist family-style, gekocht wird von den Bernards viel und gut zu Hause, oft schon saßen wir gemeinsam in der Küche, immer mit großen Weinen aus aller Welt und alten Jahrgängen der Domaine. Exakt 7 Hektar der Rebflächen sind mit 70% Sauvignon blanc und 30% Semillon bepflanzt, beeindruckend dabei die sehr hohe Pflanzdichte von 10.000 Pflanzen pro Hektar. Ein Großteil aller Rebflächen wird biodynamisch bearbeitet, zudem befinden sich alle Pflanzen in einer einzigen Parzelle.

Doch nun zu 2015 DOMAINE DE CHEVALIER BLANC. Wir erinnern uns noch gut, wir waren zu Gast bei OLIVIER und ANNE BERNARD und verkosteten den 2015er Weißwein aus dem Fass. OLIVIER meinte bereits damals, dass dies der beste Weißwein seiner Laufbahn würde, er sollte Recht behalten. Bereits während der Primeur-Verkostungen war sich die Fachwelt einig, das ist DER Weißwein des Jahres. Und genau davon haben wir etwas in unseren Kellern zurückbehalten. Denn DOMAINE DE CHEVALIER blanc ist wohl der alterungsfähigste Weißwein in ganz Bordeaux. Ja wir wissen, Sie würden jetzt sagen: „…aber Chateau … ist doch viel teurer und besser…“. Wir hatten den Vergleich allzu oft und können Ihnen nur eines sagen: Alte weiße DOMAINE DE CHEVALIERS sind eine Offenbarung.   Wir hatten 2015 DOMAINE DE CHEVALIER BLANC vergangenen Herbst, als wir noch reisen durften, in Bordeaux und tippten absolut begeistert in das Mobiltelefon:

"Instantly impressive nose with pristine lemons and limes as well as subtly flinty, reductive notes. The palate has power and direction, not to mention impressive yeast lees influence and perfectly integrated oak. Power, impressive tension and length. Drink this young or with some considerable age. "The 2015 Chevalier Blanc is as brilliant now as it was on release yet still needs 4-5 years of bottle age to show at its best. "Young and tight at first, what strikes me about this wine is the precision and the flinty, smoked notes. Stone fruits are revealed after a few moments in the glass, while the palate shows huge persistency - the reductive notes quickly disappear to be replaced by touches of green apple and bright citrus. The medium-bodied palate is very tightly knit with wonderfully crisp acid and a citrusy finish." 95 WINESPECTATOR:
"This has a full and enticing feel, with a shortbread note leading off, followed by lemon curd, peach, tangerine, salted butter and yellow apple flavors. Light verbena and heather hints show up through the alluring finish. This has outstanding range and a really gorgeous mouthfeel, and should age wonderfully. "The 2015 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc has a strict, terse, mineral-driven bouquet, full of energy and very focused. The oak is well assimilated here. The balanced palate offers Golden Delicious apple, white pepper and light pear notes on the entry. Displaying good depth, and perhaps one of the spicier dry white Bordeaux, this feels very long and assured toward the finish. Superb.
