2018 Super Pauillac-Wert

Die Historie dieses Gutes reicht zurück bis in das 15. Jahrhundert. Im Jahr 1942 wurde das Gut geteilt in CHATEAU BATAILLEY und Chateau Haut Batailley, welches im vergangenen Jahr von Jean Charles Cazes von Chateau Lynch Bages gekauft wurde. Allein dieser Kauf verrät das Potential des Terroirs und sollte Sie äußerst hellhörig machen! Die Weinberge auf CHATEAU BATAILLEY sind zu 70% mit Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot und 2% Petit Verdot bepflanzt. 

Und wie bereits in den Jahrgängen zuvor entstand hier ein absolut herausragender Wein. "This is very structured and dense with lots of fruit and tannin, yet it’s tight and long. Linear and racy. Muscular." 94 DECANTER:
"This has a less luxurious feel than some Pauillacs but it has an effortless to it that is not always the case in 2018 and still with the traditional edge of the appellation that you want from these estates with menthol, eucalyptus and cigar typicity. It has firm tannins with clear signs of well-controlled extractions and presents as rich purple with violet edging. I have had the 2009 vintage of Batailley a few times recently, and there is something here of the same generosity of spirit to the brambly fruits, with lovely juice running through what are clearly fairly hefty tannins. I´ll be very surprised if this is not an exceptionally enjoyable bottle to open in eight to 10 years’ time. Great stuff from owners Philippe and Frederic Casteja. "The crème de cassis is strong here and it´s the perfect match for the full-bodied, ripe, round, dark, fresh, spicy red berry palate. The tannins are powerful, yet refined, which is perfect for all that juicy, peppery fruit in the finish. If you can wait and give this wine 7-9 years or more before popping a cork, you will experience all of its true Pauillac character. The wine was made from blending 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot, reaching 13.5% alcohol." 92-94 WINE ENTHUSIAST:
