"Coming in close to equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with just a splash of Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Château Beychevelle shows a classic Saint-Julien purity and finesse-driven style as well as notes of red and blue fruits, sappy flowers, tobacco, and chalky minerality. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, I love its overall balance and purity of fruit, it has silky tannins, no hard edges, and a great finish. This wine always has upfront appeal, but the 2019 will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age and should have 30 years of overall longevity."

"Lovely intensity on the nose, rich and dark with blackcurrants and some wonderfully attractive floral aromas. Excellent follow through on the palate, this is direct and precise with a good drive of black fruit flavours into a long finish. Fresh acidity underpins the fruit and there is an appealing undercurrent of minerality that is so refreshing. Liquorice spice marks the finish with a touch of dryness from the acidity. A lovely impactful wine with a flavour that goes on and on. Sophisticated, sculpted and well defined. Drinking Window 2027 - 2044"

Chateau Beychevelle

Als eines der schönsten Chateau in ganz Bordeaux bietet Beychevelle (Zweitwein Amiral de Beychevelle) nicht nur in dieser Hinsicht Superlative. Haben sie schon einmal das Etikett genauer betrachtet? Das vorbeisegelnde Schiff hat seine Segel auf Halbmast. Jedes vorbeisegelnde Schiff mußte dies als Ehrerbietung dem Besitzer gegenüber tun, so besagt es zumindest die Legende. Aber nicht nur das ist ein Superlativ. Mit 250 Hektar, nicht alle unter Reben, zählt Beychevelle zu den Großen des Bordelais. Die Rebflächen bestehen zu 60% aus Cabernet Sauvignon, zu 28% aus Merlot, zu 8% aus Cabernet Franc und zu 4% aus Petit Verdot. Mit dem Einsatz von nur 60% neuem Holz ist Beychevelle eher auf der traditionellen Seite bezüglich des Ausbaus. Die Weine von Beychevelle gefallen durch frühere Trinkbarkeit und Zugänglichkeit. Trotzdem besitzen sie ein sehr gutes Alterungspotential. Was Beychevelle jedoch auszeichnet, ist die überaus faire Preispolitik. Ein Beychevelle kostet in Subskription weniger als der Zweitwein eines Premiers und auch reifere Weine sind deutlich günstiger als vergleichbare Qualitäten zu erstehen. Werfen Sie einmal ein Auge darauf, unter den großen Namen im Medoc bietet Beychevelle das wahrscheinlich beste Preis-/Leistungs-Verhältnis. Versäumen Sie es auch nicht, sich einmal die Gärten von Beychevelle anzusehen. Das Gut liegt direkt auf der Route in Richtung Pauillac. Es gibt wenige Güter in ganz Bordeaux, die über so schöne Blumengärten verfügen.
