Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru La Forge de Tart 2023 Dieser faszinierende Burgunderwein verzaubert mit einem expressiven, frischen Bouquet, in dem sich florale Noten harmonisch mit reifen dunklen Beeren verbinden. Am Gaumen präsentiert er sich mit einer verführerischen Fülle aus Maulbeer- und Pflaumenaromen, die von dezenten Rauch- und Gewürznuancen begleitet werden. Die samtige Textur und beeindruckende Dichte im Mittelbau führen zu einem angenehm langen Abgang mit feinen Tanninstrukturen. Das ausgewogene Zusammenspiel von schwarzen und blauen Früchten wird durch subtile Anklänge von Tabakblättern abgerundet. Ein komplexer Wein mit bemerkenswerter Tiefe und Präzision.

Burghound: "This is at once aromatically fresher, more elegant and more floral-suffused, along with slightly more prominent wood influence on the cool dark berry fruit aromas. The impressively rich, indeed plush and velvet-textured, larger-bodied flavors brim with sappy dry extract that buffers the very firm tannic spine shaping the powerful, wonderfully long and better-balanced finale. The dense but relatively fine-grained tannins should permit this beauty to be approachable young but also enable it to repay 15+ years of keeping."

Chateau Canon La Gaffeliere – es lohnt sich! Graf von Neipperg, Besitzer von Canon La Gaffeliere war einer der ersten, die einen höchstmöglichen Reifegrad der Trauben durch späte Lese anstrebten und mit längerer Maischestandzeit arbeiteten. In den Barriques entstehen elegante und zugleich komplexe Weine mit soften Tanninen und Säure, die den Weinen Spannung, aber keine Strenge verleihen. Die internationale Nachfrage nach dem Rotwein ist enorm. Das Weingut ist seit dem Jahr 2012 in den Olymp der höchsten Saint-Emilion-Klassifikation, dem 1er Grand Cru Classe, aufgestiegen. Graf von Neipperg – die Köpfe hinter Canon La Gaffeliere in Bordeaux Im Jahr 1971 erwarb der aus der Nähe von Heilbronn stammende Graf Joseph-Hubert von Neipperg in der Bordeaux Appellation Saint Emilion die Weingüter Canon La Gaffelière, La Mondotte, Clos de l'Oratoire, Guiraud und Chateau Peyreau. Inzwischen sind auch Güter in anderen Bordeaux-Regionen, in Südafrika und Bulgarien hinzugekommen, die von einem seiner Söhne, Stephan Graf von Neipperg, mit außergewöhnlichem Erfolg geleitet werden. Der hat den Ruhm und das enorme Comeback Saint Emilions mitbegründet. Konsequent und unbeirrbar setzt er auf Qualität und überlässt dabei nichts dem Zufall. Nicht zuletzt, weil es Graf Neipperg gelang, einen der talentiertesten und wahrscheinlich besten Berater und Önologen im Saint Emilion für seine Weingüter zu gewinnen: Stephane Derenoncourt. So setzt sich der Rotwein von Canon La Gaffeliere zusammen Den Großteil der Rebflächen von Chateau Canon La Gaffeliere findet man südlich der Eisenbahnlinie von Libourne und Castillon-la-Bataille. Nördlich der Linie liegen zwei weitere Parzellen. 19,5 Hektar Weinberge sind es insgesamt. Mit 40% ist der Cabernet Franc Anteil so hoch, wie auf kaum einem anderen Gut in Saint Emilion, 55% Merlot und 5% Cabernet Sauvignon runden die Cuvée ab, die Jahrgang für Jahrgang beeindruckt. Das Terroir von Cannon la Gaffeliere setzte sich aus stark filtrierenden Ton - Kalk und Ton - Sand Böden zusammen und hat eine ausgesprochen hohe Wärmekapazität. Canon La Gaffeliere ist das Haus und Hof-Weingut von Stephan Graf von Neipperg. Was haben wir hier schon schöne gemeinsame Abende verbracht und Rotweine bis in die 40er Jahre zurück getrunken.

Weinwisser: "Sehr tiefes, dunkles Weinrot, violett-schwarze Reflexe. Frisches, pfeffriges Cabernet-Bouquet, Backpflaumen, Rosentöne, schwarze Kirschen, Teernoten, Herbsttrompeten, Sommertrüffel. Fester Gaumen, tolle blau- bis schwarzbeerige Aromatik, erstaunlich feine Tanninkonturen, Dörrfrüchte im Finale. Ein langlebiger Klassiker, zu den grossen Jahrgängen von Montrose gehörend. Kann noch einen Punkt zulegen, wenn sich die Rustikalität zu Komplexität wandelt."

The Wine Advocate: "The 2022 Canon has turned out brilliantly in bottle. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of sweet raspberries, wild berries and cherries mingled with hints of violets, pencil shavings, black truffle and rose petals, it's full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a dense, enveloping core of fruit underpinned by a chassis of sweet, suave tannins, concluding with a long, saline finish. This is one of the most muscular, broad-shouldered vintages of Canon in recent years, but it retains every bit of its limestone-driven identity. As I wrote two years ago, this is an estate that is delivering its greatest run of vintages since the superb Post War series that preceded the frosts of 1956, and the 2022 is indeed reminiscent of a modern day version of one of those great years."

Jeb Dunnuck: "An undeniable star in Margaux, the 2022 Château Brane-Cantenac checks in as a blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 1% each Cabernet Franc, Carménère, and Petit Verdot. This deep purple-hued beauty offers up a sensational perfume of darker currants and cassis that gives way to more floral, spicy oak and graphite nuances with air. With flawless overall balance, ripe, velvety tannins, terrific purity, and a great finish, this riveting Brane-Cantenac already offers pleasure, yet I wouldn't be surprised to see this firm up with 4-5 years of bottle age, only to reemerge later and drink beautifully for 30+ years. It's one of the truly greats in the appellation, and readers will love to have this beauty in the cellar."

The Wine Advocate: "There was a big frost in 2024, and they could save 50% of their own vineyards with burners; so there were like two different harvests for the 2024 Flor de Pingus. The part that was frosted was riper and ripened faster, so they had to pick those grapes early to avoid too much alcohol because high alcohol interferes too much. They were very precise, and all the lots had 10% new barrels instead of having one lot all in new barrels. There are different lots, and he did a hypothetical blend of what the wine might be, including the press wine. The wine is very primary, clean, expressive and precise. It has a medium-bodied palate with fine tannins with some grip and a chalky feeling. There will be some 78,000 bottles, a lot less than in previous years, all because of the frost."

The Wine Advocate: "The nose of the 2024 Pingus is surprisingly harmonious, floral, perhaps a little more herbal, more subtle and not super showy or in your face, with some toast from the barrels at the core. He saved all the grapes from the frost of April 23-24 using burners. ("The candles and all the stuff cost me 60,000 Euros," explained Sisseck. "It was completely crazy, but we saved Pingus. After that, they installed big burners in the vineyard...) This was the first year when the temperature during the fermentation went up in a couple of vats, as the fermentation is quite stable and always done in the same way and in the same vats; but this time, the fermentations were a little more complicated. The wine is juicy and has fine tannins; it's not a showy vintage, perhaps a little in the style of 2014? There are some 23 or 24 barrels selected for Pingus at the moment, a little less than in 2023."

The Wine Advocate: "Offering up aromas of sweet cherries, berries, spices and new oak, the 2022 Clos l'Eglise is medium to full-bodied, broad and layered, with a velvety attack that segues into a vibrant, rather structured mid-palate, concluding with youthfully firm tannins. Incorporating fully 30% Cabernet Franc this year, this is a strong effort, albeit a touch on the liberally extracted side for such a concentrated vintage."

The Wine Advocate: "Tasted just before bottling, so a sample of the final blend, the 2023 PSI is juicy, ripe and approachable. It is a little showier and headier, despite having similar alcohol to the bottled 2022 (perhaps a tad higher, but not quite reaching 14%), and it feels a little riper, with peachy notes and some decayed flowers. It has abundant tannins and feels like it's in need of some more time in bottle. This is usually the case for PSI: the tannins need time. They are resolved quite quickly, but it does need a bit of time. It should be bottled in May 2025."

James Suckling: "Structured and powerful with chewy and firm tannins with a light vanilla and currant undertone. Full bodied. Juicy and savory. Luscious and intense yet polished. Tension, energy and wonderful length and brightness. Drinkable but needs another three to four years to come around."

The Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard boasts gentle eucalyptus and vanilla shadings accenting bolder notes of cassis and black cherries. It's medium to full-bodied and firmly structured, aristocratic even, with a streamlined shape on the palate and a long, silky-textured finish."

James Suckling: "An open and beautiful wine with green-olive and currant aromas and flavors. Some bark and earth, too, together with mushrooms, herbs, crushed stones and pomegranate. Medium to full body with round, creamy tannins and refined finish. Blood orange at the end. Crunchy. So drinkable now, but will age beautifully."

James Suckling: "Plenty of pinot character with strawberry and dried apple and some flint and matchstick, as well as stone. It’s medium- to full-bodied with freshness, a creamy texture and a long, delicious finish. 40% pinot meunier, 30% chardonnay and 30% pinot noir."

Weinwisser: "(65 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 29 % Merlot, 4 % Cabernet Franc, 2 % Petit Verdot): war der erste Jahrgang, in dem bereits 30 % Trauben aus biologisch zertifiziertem Anbau verwendet wurden. Er zeigte sich an dem Tag klassisch, mit feiner Würze nach Zeder und der typisch dunklen Frucht wie Cassis. Er war ein gutes Beispiel für traditionelles Pauillac – bissfest mit deutlichem Fassausbau und markanter Art."
