THE WINE ADVOCATE: "The bottled 2020 Pingus has settled, and the strong Mediterranean accent that was quite strong early on seems to have calmed down. The wine shows more of the serious Pingus character and is harmonious, balanced and elegant, perhaps because of the time it spent in oak vat (starting this year, it is not only in barrique). It feels very complete and intense but without weight or heaviness, and the fruit shows very clean and focused. Peter Sisseck compared it with the 2000, a wine that for him transcends the vintage; it showcases the balance (wines like 1996, 2000, 2012, 2016 and 2018). The quality of the tannins is stunning, which make the wine very elegant and balanced, and it has good freshness (even some red fruit!). This is exceptionally good, but somehow my heart didn't beat like with the wines he compared them with... 7,500 bottles were filled in July 2022.

**Pingus 2017** besticht mit einer kraftvollen und zugleich raffinierten Aromatik. In der Nase treffen intensive Noten von Schwarzkirsche, Himbeere und dunklen Waldfrüchtekonfit auf subtile florale Nuancen und ätherische Anklänge. Am Gaumen entfaltet sich eine lebendige, frische Säure, begleitet von dunkler Frucht und anregenden Gewürzen, die an Weihnachten erinnern. Die Struktur des Weins wird durch ein kompaktes Tannin getragen, das in ein beeindruckend langes und facettenreiches Finale mündet.

Der PSI 2021 präsentiert sich in einem granatroten Kleid mit leicht violettem Schimmer. Das Bouquet verführt mit Noten von Blut, saurer Kirsche und Brombeeren, umgeben von Veilchen und getrockneten Blumen. Am Gaumen zeigt er sich trocken und samtig, begleitet von kreidigen Tanninen, die eine kompakte Textur und lang anhaltende Frucht- und Blütenaromen offenbaren. Elegante Fruchtaromatik, saftige Säure und feines Tannin prägen den geschmeidigen Abgang.

"Dichte, komplexe Nase mit Noten von hellen und dunklen Früchten, Holunderbeeren, Rote Johannisbeeren, Kirsche, dazu würzige Komponenten, die für zusätzliche Frische sorgen, einnehmende Würze. Am Gaumen überaus elegant mit wiederum präsenter Fruchtaromatik, saftiger Säure und feinem Tannin. Endet lange und elegant."

Der Pingus 2012 präsentiert sich mit einer faszinierenden Komplexität und Eleganz. In der Nase entfalten sich florale Nuancen wie kandierte Veilchen und Hibiskus, begleitet von orientalischen Gewürzen, Edelholzwürze und schwarzen Beeren. Am Gaumen beeindruckt er mit einer dichten Struktur, süßlicher Textur und reifen Tanninen. Frische Säure verleiht ihm Lebendigkeit, während der Abgang durch salzige Nuancen und lange anhaltende Aromen von Blaubeeren und frischen Blumen überzeugt.

"I finally tasted the 2012 Pingus in bottle, a wine I sampled last year before bottling, and even if it was the final blend, all of a sudden proprietor Peter Sisseck decided to delay the bottling. He cannot really explain the reason why; it was really a hunch, something he felt and he thinks the decision was right. The good news is that the wine delivers all that it promised before bottling. There are plenty of floral notes, violets, even lilies; it´s extremely aromatic, subtle and precise with just some Indian spices in the background to give it an exotic character. With time in the glass, there are some earthy, mineral (even diesel-like?) aromas. It has a rare combination of power and finesse, concentrated but delicate, with buttery, ultra-refined tannins, great balance, acidity, length and a silky texture, not easy to find in Ribera del Duero. This could very well be the best Pingus ever, in the style of 1996, a year of elegance and good acidity, more Burgundian/Atlantic (Peter Sisseck does not agree with the term Burgundian applied to Ribera del Duero) than the average. This wine has the conjunction of their knowledge and the improvements in the vineyards. This is stunning, simply perfect. It has all the components to age for 20+ years. 6,000 bottles were finally filled the first week of September 2014. As I explained last time, 2012 represents a big change in Pingus with 0% new oak used for its upbringing"

All dies garniert mit 99%iger Valhrona Schokolade, einem feinen Mix aus getrockneten Gewürzen und feinster Vanille.
Dichter, viskoser Fluß mit feinen Tanninen, absolut perfekter Säure und tiefer Struktur, dabei trotzdem elegant und nahezu filigran gezeichnet.
Im Abgang Frucht, Frucht und nochmals Frucht.

Lasts for minutes. A joy to drink now, but will age for decades ahead."
