Antinori - Solaia 2017

Der 2017 Marchesi Antinori Solaia präsentiert sich in einem satten, undurchdringlichen Rubinviolett und zeichnet sich durch seine kompakte, dichte Nase mit Aromen von reifer dunkler Ribisel, Maulbeeren, Kardamom und einem Hauch von Rote Rüben aus. Am Gaumen offenbart sich eine Reichhaltigkeit und Üppigkeit, getragen von reifer Beerenfrucht und einem dichten, feinmaschigen Tannin, das in süßen Schmelz eingebettet ist. Der Nachhall ist lang anhaltend. Hergestellt mit 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese und 8% Cabernet Franc, zeigt dieser Wein Aromen von schwarzer Johannisbeere, Menthol, mediterranen Kräutern und Gewürzen. Der Gaumen bietet getrocknete schwarze Kirsche, Sternanis, Tabak und geröstete Mandeln, umrahmt von engmaschigen Tanninen, die ein festes Finish liefern. Trotz seiner Generosität benötigen die Tannine einige Jahre, um sich zu entfalten. Dieser elegant und ausgewogen gestaltete Wein überzeugt durch seine Ausdruckskraft und Eleganz.

Reich und üppig in Ansatz und Verlauf, viel reife Beerenfrucht, öffnet sich mit dichtem, feinmaschigem Tannin, eingebettet in süßen Schmelz, sehr langer Nachhall."

Lisa Perrotti-Brown: "The 2017 Marchesi Antinori Solaia has an inky black core with a young-looking, vivid purple rim. Wow! The nose is bright, pure, exuberant, and joyful with precise blackberry and blackcurrant aromas. This is such an appealing wine, focused on ripe expressive fruit, unhampered by too much oak. I adore its open, cheerful, accessible style. There is of course lots of cream, vanilla, and sweet spice notes but they are integrated beautifully into the rest of the wine. The palate is a little more firm and less covered by lush concentration but stylistically it feels closer to a sophisticated but lighter version of the 2015. The oak does not dominate; instead, it allows the fruit to find its full expression. There is a delightful, tangy, savory element on the finish. This 2017 Solaia is not overpowering but instead focused, pure and vibrant."

James Suckling: "Extremely aromatic with sage, lavender, blackberries and currants. Full-bodied with chewy and very polished tannins that melt into the wine. Foursquare and slightly austere. Fresh and well framed. A wine that needs five to six years to soften and come together completely. Try after 2025."

Decanter: "This is silky with a dark fruit feel and savoury rippling tannins that sculpt and lift the cassis fruit. As it opens, a sandalwood spice and rosemary aromatic speaks of Italy and gives an expansive twist to the black fruits. Despite a hot season, with just 300mm of rain for the growing season, this is concentrated but full of juice."

Wine Enthusiast: "Made with 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese and 8% Cabernet Franc, this has aromas of black currant, menthol, Mediterranean herbs and spice. The palate offers dried black cherry, star anise, tobacco and toasted almond framed in tightly wound, close-grained tannins that produce a firm finish. This is already generous, but give the tannins a few years to unwind."

The Wine Advocate: "The Marchesi Antinori 2017 Solaia offers a uniquely floral personality with wild rose and lilac that comes as a surprise, especially if you are expecting the more robust and opulent dark fruit associated with this vintage. To use a word that is popular now, the aromas are absolutely lifted. This is a bouquet-driven wine, showing great oak choices that are synergistic with the light and considerably thinner palate. Dried or pressed flowers cede to cherry, blueberry, some red meat char and a light touch of cinnamon. My impression is that the dry extract from the oak ultimately plays a bigger role in the overall flavor profile, preserving its red fruit core nevertheless. The wine is very accessible in terms of mouthfeel, showing a comparatively thinner and shorter approach. With more time in the glass, it offers some of the white soil dust that is a standard Solaia signature. It will be released the first week of September."

Wine Spectator: "Expressive, featuring a bright burst of cherry, black currant, iron and oak spice aromas and flavors. Fresh and fluid, with well-mannered tannins and impeccable balance. A big wine, with an elegant feel. Pulls all the elements together nicely for the vintage. Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2022 through 2042. 500 cases imported."

Jancis Robinson: "Deep ruby. Glossy, ripe, sweet with black-fruit sweetness on the nose. Softness and ripeness are the two dominant factors here. Oily richness on the palate, a big juicy glob of fruit in the middle. Good acidity keeps things in check. Full-bodied and muscular, but held together nicely. Long and spicy on the finish."
