Chateau L´Eglise Clinet

1983 übernahm Denis Durantou die Leitung von L´Eglise Clinet, dem Weingut seiner Familie. Und er hatte sofort jede Menge zu tun. Als erstes musste der Keller auf Chateau L´Eglise Clinet renoviert werden, dort war noch alter, gestampfter Lehmfußboden. Mit heutigen Hygienestandards natürlich ein Ding der Unmöglichkeit. Die Fässer waren alt und undicht, Temperaturkontrolle bei der Gärung nicht möglich. Aber bereits zwei Jahre später, mit dem L´Eglise Clinet 1985, gelang Durantou sein erster Treffer. Seit damals steigen die Qualitäten seiner Weine unaufhörlich. Inzwischen gehört L´Eglise Clinet zu den Topstars von Pomerol. Das schlägt sich natürlich auch in den Preisen nieder, aber glauben Sie mir: Sie werden den Kauf nicht bereuen. Der gerade mal viereinhalb Hektar große Weinberg von Chateau L´Eglise Clinet ist mit 85% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc und 1% Malbec bepflanzt. Dabei ist der Anteil alter Rebstöcke so hoch wie nirgendwo sonst in der ganzen Appellation. Der Wein reift bis zu eineinhalb Jahre in Barriques, von denen Winzer Durantou, der leider 2020 viel zu früh verstarb jedes Jahr 50% bis 80% erneuerte.
