  • Jane Anson

"Skilful construction here, slate and pumice stone texture, with a clutch of wild roses, sage, bitter orange zest. Brambled autumnal fruits with a kiss of cloves, turmeric and baking spice reflecting the ripeness achieved within the vintage, harnessed to a sense of reserve and a foot on the break in the opulence of the vintage. Impressive, delivers on En Primeur promise. 32hl/h yield, 7.5ha. Axel Marchal consultant. 3.5ph. Harvest September 8 to 26. Peter Sisseck winemaker, co-owner with Silvio Denz. 35% new oak barrels for ageing, biodynamic certified."

  • James Suckling

"Intense aromas of forest-floor fruits, fresh rosemary and balsamic. Very complex. Medium- to full-bodied with salty undertones. The crunchy and velvety tannins have a cashmere texture and a lively, salty, chalky character. Wow. From the owner of Pingus and Peby-Faugeres. A blend of 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc. Best after 2030."

"Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Floral einladende frische Herzkirschen, ein Hauch von Ribiseln, feine Kräuterwürze, tabakige Cabernet-Franc-Nuancen, etwas Heidelbeeren. Straff, engmaschig, mineralisch unterlegt rote Kirschfrucht, lebendige Säurestruktur, salzig und anhaftend, reife, straffe Tannine, sehr gute Balance, ein toller Speisenbegleiter, zitronige Nuancen im Nachhall, sicheres Reifepotenzial."

  • The Wine Advocate

"The 2022 Rocheyron is showing beautifully in bottle, wafting from the glass with aromas of blackberries, plums and mulberries mingled with subtle hints of licorice, bay leaf and violets. Medium to full-bodied, layered and velvety, it's deep and enveloping, its succulent core of fruit framed by sweet, velvety tannins. As readers may remember, it's a blend of 72% Merlot and 28% Cabernet Franc from the limestone slopes of Saint-Emilion."

  • Lisa Perrotti-Brown

"Peter Sisseck states this is his favourite vintage at Rocheyron, and I can see why. A pure yet glossy hue in the glass, and a truly characterful and intriguing nose, the CF showing huge aromatic expression, all ripe and dark griottes, blackcurrants, violets, sweet cedar and raspberry. Supple, polished, integrated and fresh, this has a quite seamless palate, rolling along with layers of toasted cherries and currants, with a dense grip of ripe and cleanly knit together tannins, which sit calmly within the wine until they show through just at the very end. Beautiful, with limited evolution thus far, but such fabulous finesse both in terms of its build and the tannins which support it. Superb, with great length too. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, reflecting the vineyard, and the élevage was wound back a little in this vintage, with 33% new barrels used, and time in oak cut down to just 12 months."

  • The Wine Cellar Insider

"Texturally, the wine is lush, round, and creamy, which makes the perfect backdrop for its layers of black cherries, licorice, plums, cocoa, and crushed stones. Everything is balanced, fresh, and deep, finishing with layers of dark red, sweet, pit fruits touched by a hint of salt at the end of the finish. The wine blends 80% Merlot with 20% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2025-2050."
