It’s a powerful, medium to full-bodied, incredibly textured rosé offering a huge amount of salty, chalky minerality as well as awesome notes of white cherries, orange blossom, caramelized apples, and toasted bread. It shows the ripe, rounded richness of the 2012 vintage yet has bright, racy acidity, perfect balance, and a great, great finish. It opens up nicely with air and will ideally be given 2-4 years of bottle age, and it should evolve for 2-3 decades."

The Wine Advocate: Beychevelle, owners of one of the great terroirs of the northern Medoc, continues to produce wines that are frustratingly irregular in quality. A dark ruby color is followed by a wine revealing plenty of new oak, a touch of pepper, but very little of the vegetal character found in many Medoc 1993s. Spicy fruit is present, but the wine is austere and tannic, although elegant and subtle."

Jeb Dunnuck: The 2020 Château De Fonbel is based on 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Carmenère, coming from more sandy, gravelly soils. This deep ruby-hued effort offers a terrific bouquet of red and black currants, leafy tobacco, sandalwood, and graphite, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a supple, elegant mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and outstanding length.
