Ein beeindruckendes Pomerol-Juwel, das mit seiner vielschichtigen Aromenkomposition die Sinne verzaubert. Die rubinrote Färbung mit violetten Reflexen offenbart ein verführerisches Bouquet aus dunklen Beeren, Feigen, schwarzen Kirschen und Nougat, begleitet von zarten Anklängen an Lavendel und Veilchen. Am Gaumen präsentiert sich dieser elegante Wein mittleren bis vollen Körpers mit einer seidigen Textur, die von gut eingebundenen Tanninen und einer lebendigen Säurestruktur perfekt ausbalanciert wird. Die würzigen Noten von Süßholz und Gewürzen harmonieren wunderbar mit Nuancen von Schokolade und gerösteten Kräutern, die in einem langen, anhaltenden Abgang kulminieren.
Very restrained eucalyptus-leaf aromas and plenty of balsamic, licorice and pot-pourri tones, as well as deep-set meaty and chocolatey notes. A touch of lemon bush, too. Full-bodied and firm palate with crisp and lifted acidity, yet it’s well integrated. Tight and structured, but with a refreshing, tense finish that invites a second glass. Youthful and powerful. Drinkable now, but best after 10 years."
Fabulous aromas of crushed berries, vanilla and chocolate, with pure fruit. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long, caressing finish. All in texture. A gorgeous and seductive young wine."
In the glass it shows, at twenty years of age, a matt plum-coloured core, with a little dusty fade to pink around the rim. The nose is a charmer, with fresh and perfumed notes of lavender and violets, as well as darker veins of blackcurrant, black olive, pepper and black liquorice, all tinged with mint. The palate starts off slow, with a very reserved texture, savoury and linear, albeit with a nice sense of granular energy. There is evident freshness and poise, although only modest complexity, the structure mostly resolved, with just a deeply embedded thread of powdered tannins. It is dry, savoury, lightly bitter and tinged with floral elements, with a fresh and sweet grain to the length, where it reveals a residual tannic frame. This is a charmer which can be drunk now, but which will surely develop further on this structure."
The 2004 Vieux Château Certan shows that, even in more challenging vintages, this estate is absolutely worth purchasing. Sporting a healthy deep ruby but as classic notes darker cherries, currants, truffly earth, lead pencil, and sweet tobacco, it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness as well as a concentrated, focused mouthfeel that has ripe tannins, beautiful overall balance, and outstanding length. This beautiful, classic, absolutely impeccably made Pomerol can be enjoyed any time over the coming 15+ years, and it will have a gradual decline as well."
This delicious wine had me checking prices on my phone when it was revealed at our blind tasting. The classic Pomerol nose of figs, honey, chocolate, earth, and spice showed a bit of evolution, yet it remained surprisingly youthful, with a firm, silky texture, plenty of structure and grip, and an approachable, friendly style that should age well indeed. Although it is delightful to drink now, it will only improve with age and should easily withstand another 20 years or more in a good cellar."

This stunning blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc boasts a dense ruby/purple color along with a big, sweet bouquet of black cherries, licorice, roasted herbs, smoke, and cassis. Elegant, medium to full-bodied, pure flavors reveal moderately high tannin, but superb concentration and richness. Vieux Chateau Certan should be one of the longer-lived and most complex wines of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2025."
Offering notes of flowers, wet earth, truffle, cherries, cigar box, lead pencil and savory herbs. Medium/full-bodied, the wine starts so soft, round and silky, with a core of sweet red fruits. The back end, at the end of the finish takes on an old-school, olive and herb character with some rusticity in the ending. The wine is close to mature, but it will speak a little bit louder to fans of older, classic Bordeaux."

Deep glowing blackish garnet. Not much nose but charming, sweet fruit on the palate. Then a bit of dry tannin kicks in on the end which has a touch of rusty nails. Not the perfect balance of the 2002. Just a little drying on the end. Definitely needs time but I wonder whether the fruit will see the tannin out."
