Dom Perignon - es gibt eben Champagner, über die muss man eigentlich keine Worte mehr verlieren. The Wine Advocate: WINEADVOCATE:"Vecina vineyard is located in the western foothills of Oakville, just to the southeast of the winery (up on Oakville Grade). Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Vecina needs a little coaxing to reveal notes of black currants, blackberries and blueberry compote with hints of dusty soil, cinnamon stick and fallen leaves. Slightly more structured than the other Bond 2017s, it has a rock-solid backbone of firm, grainy tannins and bold freshness supporting the muscular black and blue fruit flavors, finishing long and earthy. It will likely need a little longer to come around than its siblings, but it should also be longer lived."

James Suckling: "I am amazed by the freshness and blue fruits here in such a hot year. So much crunchy forest-fruit character like strawberries and raspberries with fantastic peaches and orange peel. Black olives and cloves. Full-bodied yet framed and formed with extremely silky tannins and great beauty. Superbalanced and incredible for the vintage. The ethereal quality of this wine is truly wonderful. Best after 2029."

Wine Spectator: "Tough in texture, but ripe and toasty, offering lovely black cherry, plum and violet aromas and flavors, remaining generous and flavorful through the firm and elegant finish. Needs time to sort out the tannins, but everything is beautifully integrated and harmonious. Best after 1997. 900 cases made."

The Wine Advocate: "Planted in 1999, the Ma Belle Fille Vineyard contains Peter Michael’s highest elevation Chardonnay vines, planted at 1,700 to 1,900 feet in elevation. The vineyard was hit hard by frost in April, and winemaker Robert Fiore says that some blocks in Ma Belle Fille yielded as little as 0.6 tons per acre. The resulting 2022 Chardonnay Ma Belle Fille is dynamic and expressive. Initial touches of vanilla, allspice and pie crust give way to scents of white peach, green guava and coriander seed as it airs in the glass. The palate offers highly concentrated flavors foiled by mouthwatering acidity, and it has a very long finish laced with tropical flower perfume and latent spicy undertones. It will gain savory complexity in the cellar over the next 10-15 years. 1,040 cases were made."

Wine Spectator: "Still vigorous, this combines density and intensity, offering cherry and strawberry flavors, accented by tobacco notes. A complex red, this finishes long."

The Wine Advocate: "The Fontodi 2021 Flaccianello della Pieve opens to a medium-dark inky appearance and solid aromas of black fruit and pressed blackberry. The Flaccianello is a touch more accessible at this early stage compared to the Vigna del Sorbo, but both wines are undoubtedly built to withstand ample cellar aging. Flaccianello is the more powerful or the two, and the Vigna del Sorbo is more delicate in comparison. These dueling character traits are especially evident in this classic 2021 vintage. This wine also boasts a more generous mouthfeel supported by softly integrated tannins."

Weinwisser: "René Gabriel, kann auch anders. 1990 Unico Vega Sicilia Kann man einen Herbstwald trinken? Ja, aber es braucht dabei eine Zuhilfenahme von Tempranillo- Trauben aus dem Ribera del Duero. Dann belässt man die gesamte Ernte nach dem Barriqueausbau für ganze zehn Jahre in einem einzigen, ganz großen Holzfass, füllt ihn in Flaschen ab und lässt ihn dann noch zwei Jahre in der Flasche warten, bis zum Verkauf. Das war früher so und ist auch heute noch so. Nur – wer alte Vegas kennt, der richtet sich auf muskulöse, strähnige, ja in gewisser Weise gezehrte Rotweine ein. Aber beim 90er ist alles anders! Das liegt wohl am hohen pH-Wert, also an der niedrigen Säure. So ist dieser berauschend süsse und eben auch waldbodige, noch nie offiziell gekürte Spanien- Premium opulent und im wahrsten Sinne gaumenfüllend. Und ich zittere jedes Mal, wenn ich eine Flasche öffne, denn jedes zweite Exemplar ist leider irgendwie korkig. Das war wieder mal eine «erste Flasche», ohne jeden Makel. Da klappern bei jedem Schluck die spanischen Tempranillo-Kastagnetten!"

James Suckling: "Beautiful aromas of brambleberries, light chocolate, bark and nutmeg. Medium-bodied with fresh tannins and hints of terra-cotta and subtle coffee and chocolate undertones. So delicious and intense. Crushed stones add to the mineral, salty and ripe-fruit character that stays fresh. 57% merlot and 43% bouchet (cabernet franc). Drinkable but better in three or four years."

Jane Anson: "Vitality, freshness, grip and length, this is an unusual interpretation of the vintage, reflecting not only the limestone soils on this spot located in the Fronsac area (although not bottled under the AOC), but also the deft viticulture and winemaking that you find from the Guineaudeau family, and the high percentage of Cabernet Franc in the blend. The colour is still hitting the inky depths that you find everywhere in this year, but a blue fruit and steel character greets you on the opening, and the tannins are finely boned, leading to a saline signoff. Continues to prove that Les Perrières is one of the most interesting new ventures in the region. 33% new oak."

James Suckling: "A curious wine that offers lots of fruit character on the nose, beginning with blackberries and flowers that move to integrated tannins, proceeding to a firmness and a well-framed palate. 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc. This needs four or five years but is lovely already."

James Suckling: "Minerality is the word here. Crunchy and al dente, this has firm, juicy blue fruit and tannins on the medium- to full-bodied palate. Everything in its place. 55.5% cabernet sauvignon, 38.5% merlot and 6% cabernet franc. Give it two more years to let the complexity unwind, and it will become even longer in two to three years.
