THE WINE ADVOCATE: "Tasted ex-chateau and single blind in Southwold. The Duhart Milon 2008 is really turning into a great Pauillac. It has a lovely, intense bouquet with blackberry, undergrowth and a touch of game with well integrated oak. Graphite aromas emerge with time. The palate is well balanced, quite austere with upfront graphite flavours, very classic with good substance on the foursquare, almost severe on the finish that is fresh and lively. One of the few easily identified under blind conditions."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Lead pencil and tobacco with licorice and currants. Full and super refined with a currants and light spice character. Open and refined and delicious bottle already."

JANCIS ROBINSON: "Dark crimson. Very intense, almost burnt, nose. Well-mannered and fully ripe fruit, in stark contrast to the Haut-Médocs and lesser Pauillacs. Very solid and still chewy but satisfying. Very long." Drink -2030

With air and effort, smoke, tobacco, blackberry and earthy scents leads to a fresh, crisp, tannic, young Pauillac with good concentration that will be more fun to drink in 6-10 years. From a blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot, the wine reached 13.1% alcohol."

WINE ENTHUSIAST: "With it cellars in a back street of Pauillac, this wine is often overlooked. But with the same winemaking team as Lafite, it represents a serious wine, solid, chunky, containing delicious fruit. The wood is noticeable at present, but will certainly mingle effortlessly in a few years."
