Leading off the wines from this fabulous château, the 2022 Pensées De Lafleur is based on 57% Merlot and 43% Bouchet (an older Cabernet Franc selection) that's from a unique vein of more clay soils in the vineyard. It's a sensational wine in its own right, and readers shouldn't overlook this. Ripe black cherries, damp earth, chocolate, and foresty, winter savory and tobacco notes all define the aromatics, and it's a voluptuous, round, incredibly seamless, sexy Pensées that's better than the vast majority of chateaux’s Grand Vins."

  • James Suckling

Beautiful aromas of brambleberries, light chocolate, bark and nutmeg. Medium-bodied with fresh tannins and hints of terra-cotta and subtle coffee and chocolate undertones. So delicious and intense. Crushed stones add to the mineral, salty and ripe-fruit character that stays fresh. 57% merlot and 43% bouchet (cabernet franc). Drinkable but better in three or four years."

  • Falstaff

Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung.

  • Decanter

Deep, dark, and opulent with floral intensity and rich perfume. Aromatically expressive, it expands in the glass, revealing spiced, creamy, and velvety layers. Dense but juicy, with liquorice, tobacco, and cedar adding depth. The wine starts broad and cushioned before narrowing into a long, spicy, and focused finish. Taut but packed with purity, impeccable tannins, and spice-driven complexity. Long and structured, with immense potential, though it hasn't fully opened up yet. A serious, layered Pomerol with a lot more to show."

  • The Wine Advocate

The 2022 Pensées de Lafleur is a head-turning, sensual wine, bursting with aromas of minty cherries and berries mingled with orange zest, black truffle and rose petal. Full-bodied, velvety and layered, it's deep, suave and seamless, with an enveloping core of fruit and tannins so polished that they caress the palate. This cuvée, derived from vines growing in the part of Lafleur's vineyard through which a water course once flowed and where the soils are richer in clay and better hydrated, still lives in the shadow of its grander sibling, but it's a must-purchase for me every year."

  • The Wine Cellar Insider

Truffles, black cherries, and dark chocolate fill the perfume. The wine is rich, lush, opulent, and deep, with layers of deep, plums, dark cocoa, and fresh mint, that adds a refreshing touch to the finish. The wine blends 57% Merlot with 43% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2027-2045."

A ton of finessed and aromatic floral components to the nose, this has depth, muscular, fennel, bitter aniseed, soy, oyster shell, cassis, and red roses. Plush but intensely constructed tannins, this can be approached relatively soon, although expect it to age well. Harvest 7 and 17 September. Jean-Baptiste Guinaudeau owner and winemaker, 25% new oak."

57 % Bouchet, 43 % Merlot.

  • Jancis Robinson

Aromatically already expressive with red-fruit and floral notes. Ripe and round then tightens to provide structure and length on the finish. Could do with a little more freshness."

  • Lisa Perrotti-Brown

The blend is 57% Merlot and 43% Cabernet Franc, and the élevage was in 30% new oak and 70% second-fill oak previously used at Grand Village. A wonderfully open and expressive nose, a light mineral quality, floral and swirled with peony and rose, over a core of tight red berry fruit. A surprisingly restrained character on the palate, with a linear and light mineral style to the start, with a more juicy structure through the middle, with leather red cherry and raspberry fruits, laced with black pepper and toast, with a firm backbone of tannins which persist into the finish. Quite juicy in style, although the structure shifts this from the easy-drinking arena into one where some cellar time is absolutely necessary. Real length here too, albeit rather peppery and warm. The alcohol is 15% on the label, and on analysis is said to be about 14.8%."
