  "The 1996 was a vintage that required a lot of care — only vines over 25 years old were selected. The wine is very restrained, with gamey notes, chicken droppings, milk chocolate and a dark-fruited core. A little evolved on the medium-bodied palate, with crunchy acidity and velvety, though slightly rustic tannins. Drink or hold."

  "Decadent and rich, with wild mushrooms, plum and hints of citrus fruit. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, long finish. Complex, with toasted oak, coffee and ripe fruit. It goes on and on. Wonderful. Big surprise. Get it. One of the best Right Bank wines in 1996. Drink now."

  "Bereits sanfte Reifetöne, starker Rand aussen. Würzig-pflaumiges Bouquet, kalter Tee, erdige Süsse. Im Gaumen eher leicht, saftige Tannine, Dörrpflaumen, fehlende Konzentration, im Nachhall doch noch eine recht gute Tanninstütze."
