Weinvorhersage vom 2. Februar 2022
Der absolute Bewertungs-Wahnsinn...
2013 COLGIN TYCHSON HILL
100 THE WINEADVOCATE: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Tychson Hill Vineyard is a rival for the 2012. Opaque purple, with blueberry and blackberry fruit, a hint of incense and subtle toast, the wine has great intensity, incredible richness and, again, a floral blue- and black-fruited nose and flavor profile that is remarkable. The finish goes on for close to a minute. This is slightly more tightly knit than the more ostentatious 2012, but both are wines to taste and drink before you die!" 99 THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Peppery, truffle, black cherry jam, with a hint of blue fruit get this going. With a bit more air, tobacco scents come into. Full bodied, silky, polished, sensuous textures are paired a plush, opulent, sweet, pure dark cherry finish. The wine was produced using 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and even portions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This is a perfect example blending power, elegance, refinement and exuberant fruit."
2013 COLGIN IX ESTATE PROPRIETARY RED
100 THE WINEADVOCATE: "Another perfect wine from Ann Colgin and her winemaking team is the 2013 IX Proprietary Red Estate, a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 8% Petit Verdot. An absolutely compelling wine, with notes of lead pencil shavings, spring flowers, blueberry, blackberry and cassis, it has the full smorgasbord of black and blue fruits, wonderfully integrated, toasty oak, acidity and tannin, a floral note that is unmistakable, and great richness, density and purity. It is an utterly exceptional wine and a tribute to not only a great vineyard, but impeccable winemaking and upbringing. It should drink well for 30+ years as well." 100 THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: “With a boatload of fresh ground spice, wet earth, perfectly ripe, sweet, juicy black fruits and smoke on the nose, the wine gets going. On the palate, the wine is full bodied, dense, rich, fleshy and equally, polished and fresh in its textures. The plush endnotes have a spicy kick and in spite of its low acidity, there is more than enough lift, making you want to refill your glass before it’s empty. The wine was made from a blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. 2013 has to the best vintage ever for Colgin, and considering their incredible track record, that's really saying something!" 100 JEB DUNNUCK:"An absolute beast of a wine, the 2013 Ix Estate checks in as a mix of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot that’s all from the estate located at the top of Pritchard Hill. Still a primordial wine that reminds me of a barrel sample, its vivid, saturated purple color is followed by an incredible bouquet of black and blue fruits, graphite, spring flowers, and scorched earth. With a deep, full-bodied, massive mid-palate, background oak, and beautiful purity and freshness, it’s a tour de force and may be the most massive yet perfectly balanced wine I’ve ever tasted. It’s incredible today in an academic sort of way, but it won’t start to hit maturity for at least another decade. Hats off to superstar winemaker Allison Tauziet who, in this critic’s opinion, fashions some of the most profound and captivating wines on the planet!" 100 FALSTAFF: "Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Blumig unterlegte reife schwarze Kirschenfrucht, Nuancen von Lakritze und Cassis, feine Gewürznuancen, ein Hauch von Nougat. Ungemein saftig, komplexe Textur, schwarze Waldbeeren, getragen von reifen, hocheleganten Tanninen, finessenreiche Säurestruktur, schokoladiger Nachhall, bleibt sehr lange haften, verspricht größtes Trinkvergnügen."
2013 COLGIN CARIAD
98 THE WINEADVOCATE: "The 2013 Cariad Proprietary Red Wine, a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 9% Petit Verdot, shows great intensity, with a slightly more burning ember and scorched earthiness to it, giving it a more Graves-like character compared to the purity of the Tychson Hill. The wine is full-bodied, rich, layered and possibly slightly more tannic and backward than the Tychson Hill, but that could be because it had recently been bottled. It should evolve over the course of 30+ years." 98 ANTONIO GALLONI: "The 2013 Cariad is fabulous. Pliant, expressive and nuanced in the glass. Here, the tannins are suave and supple, which makes the wine unusually accessible today. There is plenty of delineation in the dark, mineral-laced flavors, but the 2013 impresses for most of its superb textural depth. Cariad is made mostly from fruit sourced from David Abreu's Madrona Ranch vineyard in St. Helena." 98 THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "The mineral driven nose, with its stone, charcoal, licorice and smoked plum aromas take some effort to coax them out. But it’s worth your time. On the palate, the wine is full bodied, lush, spicy, rich and deep. There is a lot of weight and density in the wine, but there is more than enough lift' elegance and freshness to keep things moving in the right direction. The wine was made from blending 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 9% Petit Verdot."
2013 IX ESTATE SYRAH
100 JEB DUNNUCK: "The 2013 Syrah IX Estate is probably my favorite Syrah from northern California, ever. Offering a heavenly bouquet of crème de cassis, blueberries, graphite, pepper, and spring flowers, it has that rare mix of concentration and richness paired with incredible purity, elegance, and class. With full-bodied richness, a fresh, vibrant, yet super-concentrated style, and building structure, give bottles another 2-3 years, count yourself lucky, and enjoy over the following two decades." 98 THE WINEADVOCATE: "The wine that probably gets ignored, but shouldn’t be, is their small production of 350-400 cases of Syrah from their estate vineyard. The 2012 IX Syrah Estate blew me away, and I’ve said many times that it always tastes as if it’s co-fermented with Viognier, but it is always 100% Syrah. It has a honeysuckle, flowery, almost white/peachy component in the blackberry and meaty aromatics that always throw me off. The wine is aged in small oak, but the oak is concealed by the lavish amount of fruit, glycerin and extract. This is a super-intense, massive, yet elegant and complex Syrah that should drink well for 10-15 years." 98 THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "This is clearly the benchmark wine for what can be done with Syrah in Northern California. This is stunning in every sense of the word. Produced from perfectly ripe fruit, it’s like walking through the farmers market with its cornucopia dark red berries and blue fruit with an intriguing note of citrus and fresh herbs in the background. The wine is concentrated, opulent and jacked up with layers of sweet, fat, luscious, juicy, intense, peppery berries that remain with you from start to finish." 98 JAMES SUCKLING: "Amazing aromas of cracked black pepper, smoked meat and blueberries. Blue slate. Full body, iodine, spice, crushed black fruit, and black pepper. Polished and velvety. Glorious. Why wait to drink this? Yet it has a bright future in the bottle."
