While there is certainly plenty of wood here, the wine has weight and impressive concentration for the year. The tannins are still brooding away, giving a dark firm character to the wine. Blackberry fruits and acidity are there, but still well buried in the tannins."

  • The Wine Cellar Insider

Charming, polished, fresh, elegant and offering pleasure today, the sweet black cherries, black raspberries and plums and complicated with earthy, floral notes. Unlike most vintages of Ausone, this is not a wine that requires more aging."

  • Weinwisser

  • Falstaff

Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, fast opaker Kern, violette Reflexe.

Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 2007 Bordeaux tasting. The 2007 Ausone has a high-toned bouquet, a little flashy in style compared to its peers with touches of salted licorice coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and fine acidity. This is more cohesive and mild-mannered than the feisty aromatics, with good depth and a caressing, quite plush finish. It is a fine Saint Emilion, though it does not quite possess the breeding of the Cheval Blanc 2007 that was tasted alongside."

  • Wine Spectator

Berry and milk chocolate aromas, with hints of flowers, follow through to a medium-to-full body, with very silky tannins and a delicious, fruity finish. Subtle and pretty, balanced and gorgeous. So refined and caressing. Best after 2013. 1,635 cases made."

Mid crimson with a pale nose. A little bit of animal fur on the nose and then great fluidity on the palate. The acidity is very marked. Racy and floral. A bit chewy on the end."
