Chateau Lafite Rothschild 2007

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 Lafite-Rothschild has an elegant cigar box bouquet, with dusky black fruit and a touch of antique bureau—just classic Lafite. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, cedar and tobacco infusing the black fruit, classic in style with a conservative yet focused finish that lingers in the mouth. This is certainly the most subtle First Growth, but one of the most refined too—a sophisticated but understated Lafite-Rothschild that will age with discrete style."

WEINWISSER: "Dunkles, sattes Granat mit violetten Reflexen, satt in der Mitte. Nobles, feines Cabernet-Bouquet, nicht mit viel Druck, aber mit einer ausgereiften Aromatik, Lakritze, Vanillestängel, Heidelbeeren und Cassis, schwarze Teenoten. Kompakter, schwarzbeeriger Gaumen, viel Fleisch mit feinen, aber doch verlangenden Tanninen, innen eine fein kernige, pfeffrige Note aufweisend, das Extrakt noch eher rau, aber auch auf eine doch deutliche Konzentration hinweisend, noch reserviert, kühl, mit einer nicht übersehbaren bourgeoisen Note, stark an das Fassmuster des Jahrgangs 1985 erinnernd."

WINE ENTHUSIAST: "This is a wine for aging. The tannins are dense, very dry with a feel of extraction. It takes a while for the black currant fruit to show through, with acidity and freshness dominant. The wine is still settling, and time will bring the fruit into line with the tannins."

FALSTAFF: "Tiefes Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe. In der Nase zart ätherisch-minzig unterlegte dunkle Frucht, saftige Brombeernote, etwas Cassis, Lakritze, angenehme Edelholzwürze, mineralischer Touch, Nuancen von Honig und Orangenzesten. Am Gaumen kraftvolle, präsente Tannine, die sehr gut integriert sind, feine Herzkirschenfrucht, kompakt, hat viel Schliff, gute Frische, gute Balance zwischen Tannin und Frucht, anhaltend, feiner Gewürznachhall, sehr gutes Potenzial, steht dem Vorjahreswein in nichts nach."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Fully mature, this medium bodied, elegant, fresh, bright charmer serves up its tobacco, spicy, green leafy, cedarwood, plum and cherry nose without being asked twiced. Elegant, fresh and refined, there is a sweetness to the fruit, but without the depth you hope to find in a First Growth. Still, this shows good character, freshness and refinement. It is one of the wines of this difficult vintage. The wine was made from a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot."

WINE SPECTATOR: "A big, juicy wine for the vintage, with spice, sweet tobacco and plum aromas and flavors. Full, long and rich, with a soft texture. A little tight, but should develop nicely in the bottle. Best after 2014. 20,085 cases made."
