James Suckling: "Lots of hazelnut chocolate and creamy vanilla character at the moment, but the fruit is not subdued, showing some rich but fresh blackberries and dark cherries throughout. Creamy, dusty tannins surround the palate with medium to full body and a really long, plush finish. Modern and truly well-made with very good length and acidity. Drink from 2027 when the wood spices round off."

James Suckling: "A juicy and expressive red with plum and berry character as well as hints of crushed stones and grilled citrus. Medium- to full-bodied, it has juicy fruit and a flavorful finish. 65% merlot and 35% cabernet franc. 10% whole-bunch fermentation. Very attractive now but even better in two or three years."

James Suckling: "A crisp, crunchy white with guava, grapefruit, lemongrass and spice on the nose. Salty elements follow on a medium-bodied, textured palate that builds in flavor. Long, vibrant and wonderfully concentrated. Sauvignon and semillon. Drink or hold."

James Suckling: "This offers a rich nose of dark berries, walnuts, ground spices and a mushroom nuance. Firm and lightly chewy, it has medium body with compact tannins and tangy acidity. From organically grown grapes. Drink from 2027."

Jane Anson: "Gunsmoke reduction on opening, clears quickly and this a good quality balanced Haut-Médoc with plenty of charm and personality, a little tight in its tannic hold, black chocolate, cocoa bean, espresso. Run by generations of women since 1850, this is one to watch. Located in Cissac, lovely waves of rosebuds and iris. Tasted twice, great value option."

The Wine Advocate: "The organic Planeta 2023 Sicilia Menfi Chardonnay is a creamy and rich interpretation with sweet almond, apricot and Sicilian candied fruit. The wine delivers beautiful intensity over a thickly layered, full-bodied mouthfeel. Fruit comes from the Ulmo vineyard (positioned at 250 meters above sea level) and Maroccoli (at 415 meters in elevation). The wine is aged in Allier French barrique with 40% new oak, 30% second-use and 30% third-use barrel for 11 months. This is a massive production of close to a quarter of a million bottles, and that's an impressive feat."

James Suckling: "Fine aromas of herbs and currant leaves lend freshness to this wine from a hot, sunny vintage. Surprisingly scented and complex on the nose, showing spiced cherries, plums and a touch of cedar. Firm and juicy on the palate, with a medium to full body and a very long, tight-grained finish without chewiness. Nicely fluid in the middle, but refined. Drink from 2027."

Jeb Dunnuck: "Awesome levels of blackcurrants, darker cherries, roasted herbs, chocolate, and scorched earth all emerge from the 2022 Château Malartic-Lagravière, an incredibly concentrated, rich, layered beauty that has velvety tannins, a deep, layered mid-palate, and a blockbuster finish. It's easily the finest I've tasted from this château and is a riveting 2022 that deserves 4-6 years in the cellar and will keep for two decades or more. The 2022 is based on 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, with the élevage spanning 20 months in 60% new French oak. There are a little over 8,000 cases of this brilliant wine."

James Suckling: "Dark color with aromas of orange peel, blackberries, blackcurrants and flowers. Medium-bodied with refined tannins and a silky and pretty finish. Reserved and balanced. Typical Pomerol, as always. 98% merlot and 2% cabernet franc. Drink after 2028."

Jeb Dunnuck: "A smoking Margaux with tons of character, the 2022 Château Marojallia showed beautifully. Ripe cherries, blueberries, spring flowers, and tobacco all make an appearance in the bouquet, and it hits the palate with a medium to full-bodied, concentrated, structured style that has everything in the right place. I don't see it being for the instant gratification crowd, but if you're able to hide these in the cellar for 4-6 years or so, you'll be a happy camper. I wouldn't be surprised to see this rival the 2009 when all is said and done."

James Suckling: "A very good year for Tour Saint Christophe, showing great depth and flavor despite high alcohol. Abundant dark minerals, fresh blackberries, black olives and a hint of cocoa powder. Pretty full-bodied and firm with crunchy, reactive tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Lots of density here. Drink from 2027."

James Suckling: "Lots of blackberries, lead pencil, dark earth and blackcurrants. Bright and clear. Full-bodied with lots of fruit yet framed and structured with a deep and intense finish. It goes on for a long time. Greatest Tronquoy ever. A blend of 59% cabernet sauvignon, 35% merlot and 6% petit verdot. Needs five to six years to open."

Wine Enthusiast: "From one of the many estates on the Pez plateau in the heart of Saint-Estèphe, this wine has a fine, dense structure, supported by tannins. It has a dark coffee aroma, layered black currant fruits and ripe acidity. Drink from at least 2028."

James Suckling: "This is really perfumed with rose petals and citrus fruit. It's medium-bodied with brightness and fine tannins that caress the palate. Focused. Vivid. The second wine of Domaine de Chevalier. Drink after 2027."

James Suckling: "A rich, dark-fruited nose of blackberries, dark chocolate, vanilla and cedar. Some earthy notes, too. Medium- to full-bodied, this shows firm tannins with impressive depth and length. Firm, minerally finish. Drink from 2028."

Jeb Dunnuck: "Deeper ruby-hued, the 2022 Château Rol Valentin checks in as 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and the balance Malbec, all of which spent 19 months in 40% new barrels. It's rock-solid stuff offering terrific notes of darker cherries, plums, spicy wood, and candied violet notes in a richer, medium to full-bodied, concentrated style. Made in a slightly more modern, well-oaked style, it's still pure Saint-Emilion goodness with notable minerality and ample character. Give bottles 4-5 years if you can and enjoy over the following 10-15 years."

Decanter: "Deep vibrant nose, aromatic and scented with floral notes and soft hints of liquorice, earth, blackcurrants, black cherries and herbal-edged raspberries. Succulent and sharp, zingy and tangy straight away. Lovely purity and focus, smooth but fine-grained tannins make the impact and give the delicate but so appealing structure. Lovely precision and generosity here, feels elegant and lively with good fruit persistence, mouthwatering acidity and liveliness. Intense but pure, layered but almost light, with an undercurrent of wet stone and graphite giving the mineral touches alongside subtle spice. Well made and so easy to enjoy. 3.65pH. Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2022 Château Moulin Saint-Georges is a riveting Saint-Émilion, offering black raspberries, black cherries, truffle, spicy oak, and crushed stone. Based on 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, it’s full-bodied, pure, and layered, with a seamless mouthfeel, no hard edges, and a blockbuster finish. This is yet another finest-to-date release in a vintage that has produced many."

James Suckling: "A linear and racy young Cotes de Bordeaux with blueberry, mineral and crushed-stone character. Violets as well. Medium-bodied, refined yet structured. Plenty of energy here. Persistent finish. 75% merlot, 20% cabernet franc and 5% cabernet sauvignon. Drink after 2028."

James Suckling: "The nose is fragrant and inviting, offering subtle black and blue fruit, dried violets, sandalwood and stones. The medium-bodied palate shows a juicy core of fruit wrapped in dusty tannins, with a textural, lightly earthy finish. Better from 2027."

James Suckling: "This shows spiced cherries and berries as well as a twist of chalk and peppercorns. Juicy on the structured, medium-bodied palate with firm tannins framing the bright red fruit. Long and pretty well-dissolved at the end. Fresh and solid. Drink or hold."

James Suckling: "A nicely structured, savory and textured Pomerol. The nose exhibits blueberries, mulberries, dark plums, dried violets, wet floor and mild spices. It’s medium- to full-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Plenty of graphite character on the palate with a seductive frame of berries and spices mingling harmoniously. Well-driven with a long, focused finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink after 2027."

James Suckling: "An attractive Pomerol with fresh plums, spiced cherries and a touch of white pepper. Ripe, fresh and layered, with fine tannins and a very lengthy, fragrant finish. 85% merlot and 15% cabernet franc. Pure and already enjoyable. Drink or hold."

Jane Anson: "Well judged match between creamy blackberry and damson fruits alongside traces of bitterness and fresh pomegranate and quince. This is good quality, toast, raspberry leaf, cumin, turmeric. Louis Caillard vineyard directo."

The Wine Advocate: "Aromas of sweet cherries, petals and licorice introduce the 2022 Château Mangot, a medium to full-bodied, dense and layered wine that's suave and multidimensional, its concentrated core of lively fruit built around sweet, powdery tannins. It's the finest Mangot I've tasted to date, and a decade from now, readers will have a lot of fun including this in blind tastings against more famous names."

Jeb Dunnuck: "Beautiful Cabernet notes of currants, leafy tobacco, menthol, and lovely floral notes all define the 2022 Château Marquis D'Alesme, a medium to full-bodied, concentrated, seamless, elegant Margaux. It has a rich, upfront style, yet it nevertheless brings solid tannic grip. I love it today, yet it's going to take a decade to hit prime time. The blend is 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, hitting 14.5% alcohol. It will see its 30th birthday in fine form."

James Suckling: "Here’s a wonderfully racy, medium-bodied gruner veltliner with Reine Claude plum fruit and wild herb aromas that make this very expressive. Long, very clean finish. From a gravelly soil on the plain between the terraced hillside sites and the bank of the Danube. From organically grown grapes. Vegan. Drink or hold. Screw cap."

Die Geschichte von Le Bosq geht zurück bis ins 18. Jahrhundert. Die Wiedergeburt fand aber erst im Jahr 1995 statt, damals kaufte die Dourthe-Gruppe Chateau Le Boscq. Als erstes wurde Chateau Le Boscq komplett renoviert, moderne Stahltanks erhielten Einzug. Die Weinberge umfassen 16 Hektar und liegen im nördlichen, etwas kühleren Ende der Appellation St. Estephe. Sie sind bepflanzt mit 50% Merlot,

IX Estate Syrah Dieser außergewöhnliche Wein besticht durch seine beeindruckende Tiefe und Komplexität. Schon im Glas offenbart er eine strahlende, satte rubinrote Farbe. Cariad 2009 Dieser beeindruckende Rotwein präsentiert sich mit einer tiefrubinroten Farbe und fasziniert durch sein vielschichtiges Bouquet aus Blaubeeren, Kirschen und wilden Kräutern. The Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet in color, the 2009 Pontet-Canet slips sensuously from the glass with opulent scents of crème de cassis, baked plums and Black Forest cake plus suggestions of Chinese five spice, potpourri, oolong tea and menthol. Full-bodied, rich, spicy and oh-so-decadent in the mouth, it has a fantastically velvety frame and seamless freshness, finishing very long."

The Wine Advocate: "From a pristine bottle opened at the chateau, this has definitely lost some of its charm. The sensuous textures are there, but the fruit has started its fade. Drink up if have this in your cellar as it is not going to get better from here."

So setzen sich die Weine von Chateau Palmer in der Appellation Margaux zusammen Das Weingut produziert in jüngeren Jahren äußerst konzentrierte Weine mit tiefdunkler Farbe, die in der Nase und am Gaumen einen prall gefüllten Früchtekorb offenbaren. Auf seinen 66 Hektar produziert das Weingut stilistisch eine im Vergleich zu früheren Jahrgängen etwas maskulinere Interpretation eines Margaux, nach wie vor jedoch gepaart mit unglaublichem Alterungspotential. Chateau Palmer arbeitet als eines der ersten unter den großen Grand Crus-Chateaux seit dem Jahr 2008 nur noch biodynamisch. Die Besitzer des Weinguts Chateau Palmer ist im Besitz mehrerer Familien. CEO des Superstars aus Margaux ist kein Geringerer als Thomas Duroux, der zuvor von 2002 bis 2004 Winemaker bei Masseto war. Auch als Gebäude ist das Weingut eine beeindruckende Erscheinung. Man fährt in dem kleinen Örtchen d ´ Issan in der Appellation Margaux direkt daran vorbei, und würde man die Kurve nicht richtig bekommen, stünde man mitten im Hof. Der Vergleich zu Premier Cru Nachbarn ist durchaus gerechtfertigt Das Chateaugebäude von Chateau Palmer wirbt für sich. Eine Mischung aus aristokratischen und lokal bäuerlichen Gebäuden bilden mit beeindruckenden Gärten ein Kleinod, das fast zu schön zum Vorbeifahren ist. Und dann diese Weine! So viele Jahrgänge haben dieses Chateau verlassen und in jedem Jahr kommt ein weiterer hinzu, dass der Vergleich zum Premier Cru Nachbarn Chateau Margaux durchaus gerechtfertigt ist. Palmer selbst ist seit der Klassifikation von 1855 als Troisime Grand Cru Classe eingestuft, die dritthöchste Stufe der Klassifikation.

Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 Ein faszinierend komplexer Wein, der bereits beim ersten Kontakt mit einer intensiv purpurnen Farbe beeindruckt. In der Nase entfaltet sich ein vielschichtiges Bouquet aus schwarzen Johannisbeeren, Brombeeren und Himbeeren, begleitet von feinen Gewürznoten, einem Hauch Vanille und dezenter Lakritz. Am Gaumen präsentiert sich der Wein opulent und kraftvoll, dabei jedoch stets elegant mit samtigen Tanninen, die harmonisch in die vollmundige Struktur eingebettet sind. Die Fruchtintensität wird wunderbar durch eine lebendige Säure ausbalanciert, die dem Wein Frische verleiht. Im langen Abgang brilliert er mit würzigen Noten und einer beeindruckenden Tiefe.
