"Tiefes, dichtes Granat mit schwarzen und violetten Reflexen, undurchdringliche Tiefe. Rauchiges Cassis-, Brombeer- und Heidelbeerbouquet, Lakritze, Palisander, Ebenholz, Malznoten, gerösteter Sesam, schwarze Oliven, umwerfende Eukalyptus-, Minze- und Orangeatnote (gehackt) wie beim legendären 1959er, geballtes Nasenbild, konzentriert, von einer Terroir-Fruchtkraft, wie wir das bei einer Fassprobe noch nie festgestellt haben. Das Nasenerlebnis kumuliert im Gaumen in vollendeter Form, wieder blau- und noch mehr schwarzbeerige Töne, Fleisch in Hülle und Fülle, viel saftigere und fettere Gerbstoffe als bei vorangegangenen, oft etwas enttäuschenden Jahrgängen, gaumenumfassende Adstringenz, minutenlang nachklingendes Aromenfinale."

"Deep garnet colored with a touch of brick, the 2000 Mouton Rothschild (composed of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot) boldly bursts from the glass with tantalizing Black Forest cake, dried mulberries, kirsch and blackcurrant pastilles notes plus wafts of iodine, incense, potpourri and cinnamon stick with a hint of cigar boxes. Medium to full-bodied, the palate packs in the muscular fruit, framed by firm, ripe, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with phenomenal length. This is an incredibly complex and multifaceted wine, and it's drinking deliciously now. This said, I can’t help but feel that it is holding something back, that it still has another layer of opulence and seduction to reveal in its tight-knit fruit and solid structure. I personally can’t wait to see how this beauty will continue to unfold over the years to come."

"With its distinctive antique bottle and gold etched label dominated by a sheep, this is definitely a move away from classic Bordeaux bottling. It is good that the wine can support the presentation. The fruit is so ripe, it almost tastes of raisins, but that sweetness is finely balanced by the dry tannins and concentrated texture. To finish, there are exotic spices, giving an almost oriental character to the long aftertaste."

"A little more open than the other four Firsts in the vintage, with undergrowth, baked earth and gentle spice alongside the truffles, smoked caramel, spice and bilberry fruits. It shows plenty of the trademark Mouton generosity and ripe tannic structure and is lusciously textured. This came in at 80% 1st wine. It wasn't until Philippe Dhalluin arrived a few years later that production for the 1st wine would be lowered, with significantly more Petit Mouton being made (Lafite and Latour both closer to 50% 1st wine for similar sized estates). That's not to say that you won't be thrilled to open and drink this wine, and it will undoubtedly show that same stubborn unwillingness to fade away that the First Growths all share. 100% new oak. Chateau Mouton Rothschild – möglicherweise der beste Wein, der je in eine Flasche abgefüllt wurde Der unbeirrbare Baron Philippe de Rothschild schaffte es nach Jahren harter Arbeit, dass Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1973 in der Klassifikation zum Premier Cru aufgewertet wurde - es war das einzige Mal, dass einem Chateau dies gelang. Wer jemals die großen Jahrgänge von Mouton Rothschild im Glas hatte, wird bestätigen, dass das mit Recht geschah. Was ist das Besondere an Chateau Mouton Rothschild Flaschen? Geschichten und Legenden ranken sich um die Wein-Etiketten von Mouton Rothschild. Z.B. wurden sie für die Übermittlung von Botschaften benutzt. Darüber hinaus waren Weinetiketten auch immer wieder eine „Leinwand“ für Maler und Künstler. Und hierfür ist Chateau Mouton Rothschild wohl das berühmteste Beispiel. Seit 1945 widmet das Weingut bis auf wenige Ausnahmen jeden Jahrgang einem berühmten Künstler. Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Marc Chagall, Georg Baselitz, Salvador Dali oder Victor Vasarely sind nur einige Namen, die sich auf den Flaschen bereits verewigten. Chateau Mouton Rothschild in Bordeaux besuchen Mouton Rothschild ist nach Anmeldung jedem Besucher zugänglich, ein beeindruckendes Erlebnis, das man als Liebhaber großer Weine nicht verpassen darf. Allein das Museum ist einen Besuch wert. Dort lassen sich auch die Etiketten bestaunen, die seit 1945 jedes Jahr ein anderer Künstler entwirft. Dieses Erbe führen die Kinder von Philippine de Rothschild, die im Jahr 2014 verstarb, bis heute fort. Das Etikett des Jahrganges 2015 ist von Philippe Sereys de Rothschild, stellvertretend im Namen der Geschwister signiert. Die historischen Wurzeln von Chateau Mouton Rothschild Wagt man einen historischen Rückblick in das Pauillac Weingut, wird deutlich, dass dessen Wurzeln in Deutschland liegen. Meyer Amschel Rothschild, der 1744 in Frankfurt geboren wurde, war ein sehr erfolgreicher Händler. Auch die Folgegenerationen von Meyer Amschel Rothschild waren nicht weniger erfolgreich. Im Jahr 1853, zwei Jahre vor der offiziellen Klassifizierung 1855 erwarb schließlich Nathaniel de Rothschild Brane Mouton, das spätere Mouton Rothschild. Der Startschuss der Familie im Weinbusiness war damit getan. Im Jahr 1973 erlangte das Chateau den offiziellen Status eines ersten Gewächses. Es ist im Übrigen das erste und einzige Chateau, dem dieser Coup nach 1855 gelang. Es wurden auf diesem Gut aber bereits zuvor viele grandiose Jahrgänge produziert. Weine, wie die Abfüllung der Jahre 1929, 1945, 1947 – alles ausnahmslos Ikonen, die Geschichte schrieben.
