WEINWISSER: "50 % Merlot, 40 % Cabernet Franc, 10 % Cabernet Sauvignon.
WINE ENTHUSIAST: "Barrel Sample. This second wine of Château Ausone is beautifully ripe, with a serious backdrop of dark tannins. It has a fine, mineral texture and great swathes of aromatic fruit. It will age as well as many first wines from the appellation."
DECANTER: "50% Merlot, 50% Cabernet from low yielding vines (27hl/ha). Medium bodied with red fruit and floral notes. Good depth of finely grained tannin. Elegant and poised. Chalky freshness on the finish." Drink: 2020-2034. - James Lawther MW.
JAMES SUCKLING: "Fantastic aromas of crushed berries, violets, licorice and blueberries. Full body, silky and firm tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Such class for the vintage. Powerful. Better in 2022."
ANTONIO GALLONI: "The 2014 Chapelle d´Ausone is soft, racy and totally seductive. Bold dark red and blue-toned fruits, floral aromatics and silky tannins are the signatures in a super-expressive, open-knit St.-Emilion that will drink well upon release. Energetic and gracious, the 2014 Chapelle is a terrific example of the vintage. The blend is 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon." - Antonio Galloni - Apr 2015.
THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "With 50% Merlot , 40% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon , this wine offers tobacco, black raspberry, vanilla, cocoa and earthy character in its perfume. Medium bodied, with fresh, ripe, polished, elegant red fruits, this is a charming vintage for Chapelle d’Ausone."
THE WINEADVOCATE: "The 2014 Chapelle d'Ausone came across quite plush when I tasted it from barrel. Now in bottle it has certainly attained a more classic style without compromising the satisfying delineation and focus. There is plenty of fresh red cherry, crushed strawberry and loganberry fruit to savor, an undercurrent and limestone that percolates through. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, very refined and focused with superb tension and nuance. This just glides across the mouth, not a million miles away from the 2014 La Clotte in style, blessed with a very persistent finish."
