In der Nase: Helles Steinobst, Marille und Vollreife Kaki. Ein extrem animierendes, und nach etwas Zeit und einer Kostprobe im Burgunderglas, fast schon exotisches, an reifer Ananas erinnerndes Boquet. Einfach wunderbar! Am Gaumen: Ananas, Granny Smith Apfel, Amalfi-Zitrone, feine Reduktion und diese langanhaltende, nach frischen Austern verlangende und fast schon an Meursault erinnernde, burgundische Salzigkeit. Wirklich Riesling? Chapeau! Unser Fazit: Messerscharfe Präzision und ein traumhaftes Zusammenspiel von Frucht, Säure und Mineralität.

Das Anwesen erstreckt sich über eine Fläche mit festem Kalkgestein (bekannt als Nantoux-Kalk), das größtenteils von einem Steinacker bedeckt ist und kaum über Feinerde verfügt. Die Ausrichtung nach Osten und Südosten sorgt für viel Wind. Im Jahr 2015 wurde nach einer zehnjährigen Phase der Begrünung wieder mit der Bodenbearbeitung begonnen. Die Weinreben sind zwischen 35 und 40 Jahre alt. Die gesamte Ernte wird pneumatisch gepresst, wobei ausschließlich natürliche Hefen zum Einsatz kommen. Sowohl die alkoholische als auch die malolaktische Gärung finden in Fässern statt, von denen 30% neu sind.

Unsere Flasche zeigte sich nach 2 Stunden Dekantierzeit im Glas mit schöner, hellroter Farbe. In der Nase reife Waldbeeren, süße Erdbeeren und rauchige Aromen, Speck. Am Gaumen eine Melange aus Erdbeere, Himbeere, wiederum rauchigen Noten und Granatapfel. Schöne Viskosität mit wunderbarer Säure und Salzigkeit, dabei so fein und elegant mit verführerischer Fruchtsüße, einfach ein genialer Pinot-Wert, der am Anfang ganz großer Trinkfreude steht.

Decanter: "Manu Bautista's white from Sazenay is delightful, with its light lemon-yellow colour, fragrant aromas of ripe apple and pear, and a well-integrated suggestion of oak spice and flinty minerality. The texture is lively and fresh, particularly given the heat of the year, and the finish lingers moreishly on the palate. The grapes are from a 0.8ha parcel, picked by hand and gently pressed before fermentation and ageing in cask (40% new)."

Perfekte Säure, komplexes Weißwein-Tannin, Mineralität und elegante Fruchtsüße, einfach alles, was das frankophile Weißweinherz begehrt. Ein verführender Gaumenschmeichler, genialer Stoff!

Die Familienparzelle Les Veuillots umfasst 1,7 Hektar und hat mit bis zu beeindruckenden 12.000 Pflanzen pro Hektar die höchste Pflanzdichte der gesamten Region. Die Reben stehen auf gen Süden geneigten, steinigen Mergel-Kalkstein Böden. Durchschnittlich ergeben sich hieraus 10.000 Flaschen pro Jahr, in der Spitze 16.000 Flaschen. Normalerweise vinifiziert Jeremy einen Wein pro Parzelle, klassische Lagenweine, alle per Hand gelesen. In der Parzelle LES VEUILLOTS jedoch vinifiziert er aus dem gleichen Ausgangsmaterial drei verschiedene Weine, die sich durch unterschiedlichen Ausbau differenzieren. Nach dem Absetzen wurden die Weine vinifiziert und in drei verschiedenen Behältern gereift. Ziel des unterschiedlichen Ausbaus ist es, den Einfluss des Behältnisses während der Weinbereitung zu zeigen, den Weinen unterschiedliche Stilistiken zu verleihen. Die Reifung der Cuvee BOIS erfolgt in Fässern des traditionell burgundischen Formates von 228 Litern. Analog Beton ist auch Holz porös, so dass die Hefen weniger reduziert als im Edelstahltank ausbauen. Somit kann Jeremy eine lange Reifezeit auf der Hefe praktizieren. Die daraus resultierenden Weine sind daher komplexer und reichhaltiger, zeigen dezente, feine Holznoten. Im Jahrgang 2022 wurde die Hälfte des Volumens in 50 % neuem Holz ausgebaut, die restlichen 50 % in älterem Holz. Langfristig will Jeremy auf 15% neuen Holzanteil gehen.

Inox ist ein sehr frischer und ungemein präzise, linear gezeichneter Chardonnay.

Benoit Moreau erlernte sein Handwerk auf der Wein-Hochschule in Beaune. Im Jahr seines Abschlusses, 1999, absolvierte er seine erste Lese auf der Familien-Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils. In der Nase: Ein feiner, sehr eleganter Duft von feuchtem Heu, unterlegt mit floralen Noten, die an eine frisch erwachte Blumenwiese nach dem Regen erinnern. Dazu kommen feine Steinobst-Aromen von weißem Pfirsich und saftiger Aprikose, alles sehr präzise und harmonisch. Im Hintergrund zeigen sich subtile Anklänge von weißer Mandel und zarter Macadamia. Ungemein einladend und vielschichtig. Am Gaumen: Mit zartem Schmelz, der sofort für Textur sorgt. Ein Hauch Karamell und Meersalz. Frische Akzente von Pink Grapefruit und Finger Lime setzen einen brillanten, fast exotischen Kontrapunkt zur reifen Frucht. Der Anjou Noir 2022 ist ein trockener Chenin Blanc aus der Appellation Anjou im Loire-Tal. In der Nase: Ein Potpourri roter Früchte von saftigen Himbeeren, reifen Erdbeeren und dunklen Brombeeren. Dazu frisch gemahlener Pfeffer, welcher Würze verleiht. Zarte Veilchennoten verleihen eine elegante, florale Leichtigkeit. Am Gaumen: Wieder feine rote Beeren, begleitet von provenzalischen Kräutern. James Suckling: "The blackcurrant and blackberries are really terrific with hints of black ink following through to a medium body with supercentered and intense fruit on the palate. The tannins are very integrated and refined for this estate. A top Beau-Site but needs time to soften. 74% cabernet sauvignon, 23% merlot and 3% petit verdot. Best after 2029."

James Suckling: "Good depth with multilayered complexity, showing paprika, stones, tobacco and cassis. Medium- to full-bodied, this has structured tannins and a sandblasted texture. Tight-boned and long. Needs at least two or three years of bottle-aging. Drink after 2027."

Decanter: "Smooth and sappy, this has great energy and liveliness from the first sip with tangy red fruit, verging on high toned, but with lovely chalky tannins that give this a wide frame. Clean and clear as well as fresh with mint, liquorice and clove spice on the finish. Cool and crunchy with crystalline fruit and bright acidity. Ends lean and salty with generous minerality."

Jane Anson: "Violet plum colour, intense dark fruits, edges of charcoal and grilled oak, with blackberry and loganberry fruit. Concentrated, this has character and impact, with a flash of heat. Jean-Francois Janeouix owner."

Lisa Perrotti-Brown: "From an estate far north in the Haut-Médoc appellation, this is 42% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. I like the cool and dark fruit presented on the nose here, suggestive of crushed damson and currant. This confident cohesion continues on the palate, with a dark fruit profile, of blackcurrant, blackberry, black pepper and toast, with a rich core of dense, tightly knit tannins. Quite a substantial structure here, and a welcome hint of sweetness to the fruit, both of which ring true for the vintage. A wine of potential, with a long, gripped finish, riven with tannic grip. A strong result from Charmail this year. The alcohol on the label is 14%."

Jane Anson: "Extremely successful, has grip and character and depth, white peach and pear, tons of slate, this is delicious, one of the white wines of the vintage (one of the few where there feels no need to excuse the heat), everything is so well integrated. Great stuff from Jacques Lurton and the team."

The Wine Cellar Insider: "Cherries, flowers, licorice, spice, and cocoa pop in the nose. The palate is even better with its wealth of ripe, round fruits, soft, silky, textures, and creamy, mineral-tinted finish. The wine blends 85% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. James Suckling: "Serious depth and complexity on the nose, showing a refreshing touch of spearmint to the pure blue fruit, cassis and minerals plus a hint of incense and graphite. Powerful but polished and taut in tannins with a linear set of fruit on the medium- to full-bodied palate. Decanter: "Ripe fruit and toasted notes on the nose. Rich and fleshy, this has an initial bounce and lift with juicy acidity and chalky red berry fruit but also quite compact tannins that bring the power to the fore and stop the finish a little short. I love the precision and cool freshness on show but feels a bit tense and lean still. A touch sombre towards the finish, the opulence of the vintage shining through, with the dark fruit emerging alongside notes of bitter chocolate, tobacco, liquorice and aniseed. Full and glamourous but will be nice once the elements harmonise a little more."

The Wine Cellar Insider: "Aromatically, the wine pops with incense, espresso, licorice, plums, cherries, flowers, and chocolate. However, the star of the show is the mineral-driven palate with its layers of perfectly ripe, fruits, and the velvet-edged, creamy finish, with its salt-crusted end note. Part of the reason the 2022 is so strong is that Le Defi was not produced this year. So all of that fruit was included in the Fontenil bottling. Drink from 2026-2042."

Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2022 Château Fleur Cardinale is a blend of 78% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, vinified with a cold pre-fermentation maceration and raised for 12-14 months in 72% new French oak, 18% one-year-old barrels, 7% large foudres, and 3% amphora. It's a full-bodied, layered Saint-Émilion exhibiting dark berries, graphite, crushed stone, and truffly earth-like nuances on the nose. This ripe, yet flawlessly balanced Saint-Emilion has moderate acidity, silky tannins, and a seamless, polished texture. A slightly modern-styled expression, it’s nevertheless lush, opulent, and utterly compelling, showing both depth and finesse."

Jane Anson: "Intense, concentrated, a ton of Pauillac typicity in the quality and the character of the tanins. Earthy, with chalk board, crayon, pencil lead, good firm tannins, lovely. Great appellation signature, and this has power and concentrated deep plum and cassis fruits. Will age well, and should be good value, an absolute buy. Jane Anson: "Excellent quality, powerful and yet restrained, luscious and opulent yet riven through with slate and pumice texture, great quality, this has the grated ginger that you really need in 2022 for the sweet wine to lift off; you get it's here in spades. Love it."

James Suckling: "This is a solid and structured red with a full body and a compact tannin structure. It shows ripe blackberries, blackcurrants and black olives, with spice and earth undertones. The finish is meaty and long. Try after 2028."

Decanter: "Toasted pineapple, peach, lanolin, lemon balm, and bitter lemon peel with hints of caramel and biscuit. Crisp yet cushioned, with a perfect balance of bitter citrus and juicy stone fruit. Saltiness enhances the pineapple tang, while buttery notes add depth without weight. The finish is juicy, lifted, and irresistibly moreish, making you want another sip immediately. A brilliant mix of ripeness, minerality, and vibrancy, ending on a dazzling lemony note. Alluring and beautifully crafted."

Jane Anson: "Great quality, this has a ton of structure and personality and easily plays with the big boys in the Médoc. Has settled in over ageing, still with slightly austere tannins but they are locked in to cassis and bilberry fruits, with a ton of crayon and liquorice bud. Located on high quality river strip of gravels in Cussac Fort Médoc on the outskirts of St Julien. 33% new oak for ageing, Domaines Bouteiller, 45ha. A great value choice, one point upscore."

Lisa Perrotti-Brown: "Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 La Rose Figeac prances out with showy notes of baked blueberries, kirsch, and plum preserves, plus suggestions of spice cake and star anise. The full-bodied palate is chock full of bright black fruits, framed by firm, ripe, rounded tannins, and plenty of freshness, finishing long."

James Suckling: "This layered and juicy red has notes of currants, blueberries, dried flowers and licorice, as well as crushed stones. It’s medium- to full-bodied with very fine, polished tannins. Long and delicious already. Drink from 2026."

Decanter: "Glossy and shiny lemon fruit, feels really nice, a bit of honey and some bitterness but combines to be a really nice and refreshing mouthfeel with complexity. Very enjoyable."

Decanter: "Juicy and really bright, the focus here is on the purity of the strawberry and blackcurrant fruit with slight hints of mint, dried herbs and toasted oak around the sides. Feels easy and effortless with purity and focus. Not so layered or plush as you might expect, this is fruit driven with high acidity and a long, lifted finish."

Decanter: "Rich and concentrated on the nose with perfumed notes as well as dark fruit and liquorice spice. Smooth but firm, this has weight and density in the mouth with fleshy black fruit, lively acidity and a long finish with chocolate and mint. Still feels fairly serious, this has broad shoulders and a wide frame but with gorgeously pure and juicy fruit. I like the combination of crunchy acidity and plush tannins, it really works. Excellent mid plate vibrancy. A touch of oak gives a bite to the finish but this will settle."

James Suckling: "Don’t be put off by the wood spices, which are still a bit prominent. This is built for the long haul, with impressive depth and complexity. Spiced berries, white pepper, hibiscus and touches of cedar, chocolate and minerals. The highlight is the tannin, both in its dusty quality and huge quantity, delivering structure, polish and precision. Really caressing and long in the finish, which lasts almost a minute. Such a smart buy for the vintage. Drink from 2026 and for the next 10 to 15 years."

Jeb Dunnuck: "A pure Merlot-based Pomerol, the 2022 Château La Croix Saint Georges offers rocking notes of plums, black cherries, leafy herbs, and chocolate. Medium to full-bodied, round, and lush, it has a beautifully textured and polished profile that’s perfect for drinking over the coming decade or so. Count me impressed – this is a smoking good Pomerol I’d be thrilled to drink."

James Suckling: "Lots of hazelnut chocolate and creamy vanilla character at the moment, but the fruit is not subdued, showing some rich but fresh blackberries and dark cherries throughout. Creamy, dusty tannins surround the palate with medium to full body and a really long, plush finish. Modern and truly well-made with very good length and acidity. Drink from 2027 when the wood spices round off."

James Suckling: "A juicy and expressive red with plum and berry character as well as hints of crushed stones and grilled citrus. Medium- to full-bodied, it has juicy fruit and a flavorful finish. 65% merlot and 35% cabernet franc. 10% whole-bunch fermentation. Very attractive now but even better in two or three years."

James Suckling: "A crisp, crunchy white with guava, grapefruit, lemongrass and spice on the nose. Salty elements follow on a medium-bodied, textured palate that builds in flavor. Long, vibrant and wonderfully concentrated. Sauvignon and semillon. Drink or hold."

Jane Anson: "Gunsmoke reduction on opening, clears quickly and this a good quality balanced Haut-Médoc with plenty of charm and personality, a little tight in its tannic hold, black chocolate, cocoa bean, espresso. Run by generations of women since 1850, this is one to watch. Located in Cissac, lovely waves of rosebuds and iris. Tasted twice, great value option."

Jane Anson: "Concentrated with a ton of spice, bright and powerful dark cassis and bilberry fruit, and a saline kick on the finish. One of the real value wines of the vintage, has a huge sense of character, great architecture, and silky tannins."

Falstaff: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Zart nach reifen Pflaumen, ein Hauch von Orangenzesten, schwarze Kirschen, einladendes Bukett. Jeb Dunnuck: "Awesome levels of blackcurrants, darker cherries, roasted herbs, chocolate, and scorched earth all emerge from the 2022 Château Malartic-Lagravière, an incredibly concentrated, rich, layered beauty that has velvety tannins, a deep, layered mid-palate, and a blockbuster finish. It's easily the finest I've tasted from this château and is a riveting 2022 that deserves 4-6 years in the cellar and will keep for two decades or more. The 2022 is based on 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, with the élevage spanning 20 months in 60% new French oak. There are a little over 8,000 cases of this brilliant wine."

Lisa Perrotti-Brown: "The 2022 du Domaine de L'Eglise, 98% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon, is deep garnet-purple in color. It skips out with bright, carefree notes of crushed red and black plums, black raspberries, and Morello cherries with suggestions of cracked black pepper and wilted roses plus a waft of star anise. The full-bodied palate is concentrated and seductive, with velvety tannins and impressive tension to frame the generous fruit, finishing with a lively lift."

Jeb Dunnuck: "A smoking Margaux with tons of character, the 2022 Château Marojallia showed beautifully. Ripe cherries, blueberries, spring flowers, and tobacco all make an appearance in the bouquet, and it hits the palate with a medium to full-bodied, concentrated, structured style that has everything in the right place. I don't see it being for the instant gratification crowd, but if you're able to hide these in the cellar for 4-6 years or so, you'll be a happy camper. I wouldn't be surprised to see this rival the 2009 when all is said and done."

James Suckling: "A subtle graphite character makes this a very attractive and typical Bordeaux red. Aromas of dark plums with a touch of iron, as well as forest-floor, mineral and white-pepper notes. Medium to full body with fine, chiseled tannins and a perfumed finish. Tensioned and long. Quite transparent on the palate. Merlot from deep, thick clay. 80% in foudre. James Suckling: "A very good year for Tour Saint Christophe, showing great depth and flavor despite high alcohol. Abundant dark minerals, fresh blackberries, black olives and a hint of cocoa powder. Pretty full-bodied and firm with crunchy, reactive tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Lots of density here. Drink from 2027."

James Suckling: "Lots of blackberries, lead pencil, dark earth and blackcurrants. Bright and clear. Full-bodied with lots of fruit yet framed and structured with a deep and intense finish. It goes on for a long time. Greatest Tronquoy ever. A blend of 59% cabernet sauvignon, 35% merlot and 6% petit verdot. Needs five to six years to open."

James Suckling: "Dark currants with blackberries and a touch of pencil shavings. Good perception of freshness despite the ripe black fruit. Tight, full-bodied and fine-grained on the palate. Long, structured and juicy. 64% cabernet sauvignon, 31% merlot and 5% cabernet franc. Give it two or three more years."

Wine Enthusiast: "From one of the many estates on the Pez plateau in the heart of Saint-Estèphe, this wine has a fine, dense structure, supported by tannins. It has a dark coffee aroma, layered black currant fruits and ripe acidity. Drink from at least 2028."

James Suckling: "This is really perfumed with rose petals and citrus fruit. It's medium-bodied with brightness and fine tannins that caress the palate. Focused. Vivid. The second wine of Domaine de Chevalier. Drink after 2027."

James Suckling: "A rich, dark-fruited nose of blackberries, dark chocolate, vanilla and cedar. Some earthy notes, too. Medium- to full-bodied, this shows firm tannins with impressive depth and length. Firm, minerally finish. Drink from 2028."

Jeb Dunnuck: "Deeper ruby-hued, the 2022 Château Rol Valentin checks in as 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and the balance Malbec, all of which spent 19 months in 40% new barrels. It's rock-solid stuff offering terrific notes of darker cherries, plums, spicy wood, and candied violet notes in a richer, medium to full-bodied, concentrated style. Made in a slightly more modern, well-oaked style, it's still pure Saint-Emilion goodness with notable minerality and ample character. Give bottles 4-5 years if you can and enjoy over the following 10-15 years."

Decanter: "Deep vibrant nose, aromatic and scented with floral notes and soft hints of liquorice, earth, blackcurrants, black cherries and herbal-edged raspberries. Succulent and sharp, zingy and tangy straight away. Lovely purity and focus, smooth but fine-grained tannins make the impact and give the delicate but so appealing structure. Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2022 Château Moulin Saint-Georges is a riveting Saint-Émilion, offering black raspberries, black cherries, truffle, spicy oak, and crushed stone. Based on 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, it’s full-bodied, pure, and layered, with a seamless mouthfeel, no hard edges, and a blockbuster finish. This is yet another finest-to-date release in a vintage that has produced many."
